Duncan
I don't know if I have asked this before but is there any protocol or anything about quoting someone who became a President of the Church or even a President of the Twelve but when they weren't either of those those? So for example quoting say, Harold B. Lee from 1955 but he wasn't either the President of the Church of President of the Twelve in 1955 so do you say "Elder" or do you say "Pres. Harold B. Lee said in 1955..." Link to comment

I just say something like while acting as/in the position of such and such, President Benson said......" 5 Link to comment
mnn727
I would say: "Then" Elder Harold B Lee, stated in a 1955 talk..... -- emphasising the "Then" 1 Link to comment
Amulek
I usually go with "Then [Title] [Name]" (e.g., Then ELDER Hinckley) as well. Link to comment
