They go because they put family first.

I haven't been inactve since my early adult years where I had a short stint. It's definitely true, that it's hard to return if you miss several weeks in a row. I guess I need a reason to go, such as a calling or something. I know Sacrament is important, and anytime my kids would complain I would tell them that we only have to give the Lord one day a week, what's the problem? Now look at me. But honestly I think if I were as rigid as I once was, I would probably have a terrible relationship with them now. And attending church didn't always help me with feeling close to the Lord. The rituals did feel nice, with music and such, but I've recently gone home feeling worse. The young man I use to help in Primary/Sunday School with has developed a terrible infection so he won't be attending for awhile. I doubt the church will ever skip Sunday School and go to only 2 hours for the block. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in about that also.

Whatever direction you take..you will learn from it. If/and or when you return to church someday..you may feel more whole and one with God because of it. There are probably people in your own ward who would learn so much from your understanding of those of us on the outside. You rock Tacenda. I admire you and your honesty to yourself and others.
