But the attributes of God in LDS thought have not always been consistent.

Thanks, Jim The King Follett discourse, and extrapolating from D&C teachings about exaltation. Of course even the early Christians believed that Jesus was not always God, but was instead adopted at some point in his life as the son of God (at his baptism, or his birth)

Of the four Gospels, only John (the furthest removed from the historical Jesus) teaches that Jesus was God before the foundation of the world. 1

These verses do not mean Jesus became a God. Thanks for sharing though. Jim
VideoGameJunkie Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 All that matters now is that Heavenly Father is our God and Jesus is our Savior and we hope to reunite with both of them in the next life.

Jim You mean you reinterpret them to mean something else. But at one time, it was believed that Jesus who was not always God, and that is reflected in the scriptures. The Jesus of John is not the same Jesus of Acts or Mark or Hebrews, in terms of the nature of his divinity. Edited November 12, 2016 by Gray

Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus was Michael the archangel before his life force was transferred into Jesus at birth. But then they also consider this 'angel' a god too. Jesus (as mentioned in the New Testament) is worshiped by the disciples because he is God. An LDS training manual mentions that it was some level of intelligence that ranked Jesus as a God in his pre-mortal state. Jim

Your theology is built on a priori assumptions which are not correct, accurate or true. And Grey is correct, The first four gospels teach a very different concept of Jesus and his divinity than does the book of John which came many years later and clearly reads back into it doctrine which the earliest Chrisitians did not believe
