My point was exactly what I said: I believe teachings like these, for believing gay members, contribute to the despair and loneliness described by the OP.

Well, it was part of a conversation from over a week ago, so I can't say entire what I was thinking at the moment. But, my main point was likely that we ought to be aware of the loneliness and despair that some of our gay church members feel and work towards alleviating that anguish.
