Law of Chastity-Making Out

This is really a question for your bishop or parents.

No, you didn't break the law of chastity, but it's a red flag that some things need to change in how you and your girlfriend interact with each other when you are alone. It sounds silly but if everyone keeps their feet on the floor it makes for a lot less guilt later.

I think the law of chastity is pretty clear. You'll know it when you break it.

And I'm surprised the moderators haven't shut down your post yet.

I echo bluebell. Please see your bishop if you are concerned. He will give you direction and counsel that no one here can.

If there was no petting then you're fine.

That's really not a question you or I can answer or give advice for.  As has been mentioned, that is the role of a bishop.

I've been to the Bishop and Bishops many times for law of chastity issues and questions. At this point I consider myself an expert.

You crossed the line when you didn't stop knowing you had an erection.  This isn't a determination made by a bishop.  It is a clear line when you intentionally do things to arouse sexual feelings and/or don't stop immediately when you know you are becoming aroused.   Was it intercourse, obviously not.  Does it mean you are bad, young men especially can go from nothing to ejaculation pretty quickly.   What it means is you need to draw your line much further back (don't lay down with girls and don't kiss them standing up in ways that arouse either would be where I urge you to draw it).  (And no, don't tell your girlfriend what happened --- this is your burden to bear and to learn from and to never do again.

Oh, and don't listen to those who tell you that if you  don't do X, or Y or Z, you are okay.  Their definitions of those things may not be the same.  And it doesn't matter what the name is, it matters whether you are doing things that cause arousal and/or whether you stop whatever you are doing that results in your or another 's arousal the minute you know that is happening, whether  you meant/planned for it or not.  And do something else (because those feelings are powerful and YOU are the one that must master them so they are only expressed with your opposite sex spouse after marriage) and if you don't change up what you are doing you are likely to get pulled back into it.
