In his last days Joseph wouldn't wear his garments, and also he purportedly said polygamy was wrong. You are welcome to feel that way. I feel that is completely false.

JLHPROF Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Quote But, I feel that just as King David in the Bible was punished for adultery and even murder, Joseph Smith was punished with his eventual death and the death of his beloved brother Hyrum. In his last days Joseph wouldn't wear his garments, and also he purportedly said polygamy was wrong. 10 minutes ago, Tacenda said: I understand, I probably am wrong, I need references to back my statement up. I think that you should go with what the church has set forth, well, you already are. But for some of us, this may or may not work to keep the faith. 1. IMO, and based on who I believe Joseph to be, Joseph's death was foreordained, not a punishment. Just as the Savior's was. 2. Joseph always wore his garments, and chose to remove them when going to Carthage. There are many speculations why he did that, but nobody knows for sure. Everything from the heat of the day to his knowing he would die and didn't want them mocked/passed around as Christ's robe was, to his feeling he couldn't complete his mission and die while under their protection. Nobody knows his reason for removing them. 3. The person that claimed Joseph said he made a mistake concerning polygamy at the end of his life was William Marks I believe. A man who was completely anti-polygamy and his claim is very suspect. Basically, IMO, Marks lied. Additionally, as I said to ALarson, if God punished Joseph for his polygamous marriages by killing him, it makes no sense that God allowed Brigham, John, Wilford, Lorenzo, Joseph F., and Heber J. Grant to do the same thing and continue to be his prophets and mouthpieces. There was no sin or error in polygamy. If there were, God could have easily called a monogamist to succeed Joseph. This question was related to the topic and you just ignored it when I asked it. Do you believe prophets can be mistaken with their teachings or doctrines that they believe in? But, I'd rather someone say "I don't know" rather than for them to just continue avoiding questions when having a discussion. Of course, no one is obligated to answer. However, continually ignoring questions or avoiding answering a question is also an answer or response. . Edited March 30, 2016 by ALarson

But yes, JLHPROF's feelings and beliefs regarding the Adam/God teachings are a very interesting discussion and he's been clear as to what his beliefs are on this topic. Check you inbox.
