Last Sunday I did not set an alarm and showed up late. I missed the hymn and the bread prayer. I decided to abstain....and decided to set an alarm for every Sunday. Most people can get up at 9:30 without an alarm. Not sure what my problem is. Possible sleep deprivation. You cannot oversleep (unless something is wrong). Quality of sleep counts as well. People need different amounts. You could try going to sleep earlier.

filovirus Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Just read through CHI 2 regarding the sacrament. There is no specification on what to do if a member arrives late and would still like to partake. Again, I believe the bishop should decide as moved by the Spirit and impart that information to the correct aaronic priesthood quorum/person. I dont think it's for the members to decide. Anyone know if it explains further in CHI 1?
thatjimguy Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I kind of am taken aback from the idea that people who arrive late cannot have the Ordinance. I might see that in serious situations where someone is chronic about being late I suppose...and even then...this is the Sacrament we are talking about. I don't feel that is the place for personal pet peeves to come into play.

I say this as sometimes one of said slovenly. If I do not care enough I probably do not deserve the ordinance. I do not care much what others do. I do see why leaders who are supposed to teach this stuff do feel the need to tell people that if you missed the prayer do not partake.

You seem to categorize anyone who shows up late as slovenly, a messy, dirty sort of person. People come late. It happens. People care about their jobs, but they are still going to be late at times. Like I said, if it's chronic I can see it (a even then a warning beforehand), but otherwise, such strictness is overkill. Edited January 15, 2016 by thatjimguy

I kind of do but since I fall into the slovenly category it is definitely not a pet peeve or me dictating from a rameumptom
