No kidding.

So glad I left that far behind.

So stop pretending it's a real concern for you instead of one more rhetorical cudgel.

Not all LDS meetings are fonts of unending spiritual bliss, but I have had many, many, many uplifting and spiritual experiences in church meetings.

I am pretending nothing.

I was responded to a post that said there is no coercion involved in keeping people in the church.

Why so defensive?

Except with threats of eternal damnation and loss of family . . .

Just like the hot stove threatens to burn you if you touch it and water threatens to make you wet if you touch it. That is why we all hate stoves and water. They function purely through threats.

But if I don't obey you, are you going to stick my hand on the hot stove to punish me?

A patient discharging himself is quite different from being kicked out.

Indeed, the patient who quietly leaves on their own involves less paperwork.

My experience with Sacrament meetings are mixed.  Like everything..some are interesting and some are not.  But I DO wish that they would let families have the funerals be more about the deceased and not an opportunity to preach the gospel.

Never understood this. If you knew them why do you need to have talks about them? If you didn't know them then it is a little late to get interested in their life now.

Boy is that a subject for another thread.

Requiring funerals held in chapels to be missionary opportunities for the non-member bereaved family and friends of the deceased is something Tiggers hate most!

My grandfather insisted on a grave side service.  I believe I will as well.

A funeral is supposed to be a celebration and commemoration of the life of the deceased.

Not a Tupperware party.

I am not saying claims of exclusivity cause church to be boring.

I apologise for misunderstanding, but that was the obvious takeaway.

Obviously you are unfamiliar with the latest in Tupperware coffins. Stylish and affordable. Look your best in the morning, afternoon, or evening of the Resurrection when you wake up from a clean, refreshing, and well-sealed nap.

I think I will just be stuffed instead and boost the flagging taxidermy industry as a final service.

It was just an attempt to humorously voice my incredulity.

And no wilting at the edges.

You are slaying me, Nehor!
