Storm Rider Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I use the Gospel Library App on my iPad to teach. In preparation for my lesson I have always been able to use the highlight feature to mark certain passages, etc. This week I noticed it is working only intermittently. Most often the feature is not offered - you can copy, define, etc., but not highlight. The same problem is on my desktop so it is not an iPad problem. Is this just me or have you experienced the same problems? Does anyone know of a correction or setting change that is needed? I read the updates and I read where they recently made an update to use a live pen; maybe they fixed one problem only to create another.
bluebell Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Mine still works. The option is 'mark' rather than 'highlight' but it's still there on my iPhone. I could still be a bug though. Did you report it?
Storm Rider Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 Tried to report it, but haven't even figured out how to do that. I even went to the Church website. When I highlight a phrase to highlight it only offers the alternatives of: copy, share, define, search. When I first open the app and then highlight something it may allow me to highlight it once. However, the next time I highlight something the mark function is not available. Thanks for your quick response and I am glad that yours is working. This is a real pain and makes for a lot of extra work for lesson preparation. Good Sabbath to you.
Storm Rider Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 When I switch to scriptures it then will allow me to mark a passage. Then return to lesson material and I may get to mark one passage and then the feature is missing again.
Storm Rider Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 I sent a report in also - someone at church helped me. Got a pretty quick response to be patient and they are working on it.
Storm Rider Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Oh, and no one was having the same problem yet.
bluebell Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I got a response saying it was because certain parts of lessons are not coded to allow highlighting (like bullet points, headings, etc.). I responded and told them that wasn't the issue. I haven't heard back again.
deli_llama Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I was having a similar issue a few versions back, so this might not apply here, but I found that when I deleted the content (not the app) and redownloaded it solved itself. YMMV.
Rain Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It's working ok for me. Sorry you are having that problem. On a similar note: I found out today now you can mark a scripture then "share" it with your scripture mastery app. Then use that app to memorize your own choice of scripture. You can even use it to memorize other things in the Gospel Library app like the Living Christ. 1

YMMV. I will try this, but it is occurring both on my iPad and my windows laptop. I did delete the app, but that did nothing to help the problem. Bluebell, that appears to be the same type of response I received. I will delete the content and then recheck to see if that helps. My thanks to each of you for your comments.
Storm Rider Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Quote I deleted the content on my laptop, rebooted the computer and then added re-added the content, but I still was not able to mark or highlight the lesson material. Given the way that the app syncs all devices I wonder if I should delete the content from my phone, iPad, and laptop and then try to download the content? Just an unfortunate problem with technology; you never know top from bottom or where to begin sometimes.
sunstoned Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Is this available on the Android platform? If so, does anyone know where to get it?
bluebell Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It should be in the same place where you get all your apps. Google play? It's called gospel library and it's free.
Storm Rider Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 My phone is an Samsung. Then my iPad mini and a windows laptop. Sunstoned, it should work fine for you.
deli_llama Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 What's curious, and maybe I have not understood completely, but this is happening cross-platform—iPad, website (if I read that correctly), and a laptop. Not clear if it is happening on the phone/Android. It is surprising that the same thing is happen in all environments. You didn't say, but even if your laptop isn't a Windows or OS X and is running Android like your phone, that is still three, and maybe four, different environments that is happening in. Weird. Well, as they say, it is all probability and potential until it has been observed.

I knew him on my mission.
