IE; I was 10 years old in 1961 when JSF made that spectacular "revelation". Less than a decade later we not only had men in space but landing on the moon. We even wrote about it our books. The statement my have been wrong but I believe the principle is correct. FTL is not going to be revealed to a human on this Earth until we learn to play well with others. God is not going to let us go around the universe murdering, raping and pillaging. Until we are a Celestial Kingdom we aren't going anywhere (perhaps Terrestrial) I'd wager we never make it out of the solar system before Christ returns. We my have landed on the moon but we have done nothing remarkable since then, no colonizing the moon, Mars , no expansion, just surrounding the earth with weapons. 2

I don't believe it is because God is preventing it. Except to the extent that the distances are so large that until we discover how to make Warp Drive work it is problematic. Europeans were a seafaring people long before they sailed to the New World. Space is our New Sea.

Why would God step in there, but not when humans did all the raping, murdering & pillaging all across the earth? Not to mention, it would be very unlikely that astronauts would behave the same way as Vikings and Conquistadors.

I often hear that God visibly stepping in would violate agency. Do you subscribe to that? In any case, why the entire earth as a quarantined insane asylum? Why not just, say, New Jersey? Astronauts are different because they are nerds. Historically it's been the jocks doing all the raping and pillaging. Astronauts would bore the aliens with their knowledge of Star Trek minutiae. Agency is a misused term. I do think we are in a state where the eternal consequences of our actions are muted so we can sample good and evil without the full force of blessing or punishment coming upon us immediately. I think the main reason the quarantine zone is so big is how many insane people we have to house here. Admittedly we may need to wall off New Jersey as a particularly dangerous area.I think space travel will be more like the Internet. First the bright nerds found it and had (by our standards) disturbingly civil online conversations. Later when the bar of entry goes down we let everyone in and the whole thing goes to hell and everyone is trying to make money off of it. 2

As usual, you don't understand what I am saying. It is not necessary to have credentials to believe in Scientific truths. I am not a biologist, but I believe in the Theory of Evolution because experts do the scientific research for us. Here is a video that explains why you should take the Scientific Consensus seriously.
