Do Worn Scriptures Require Specialized Disposal?

You would agree then with my wife that Poles are annoying. 

 

She summarized my entire character in like 6 words today:  "Wisdom is wanted! I must impart!"

 

I guess it gets a little old discussing the phenomenology of buttered toast.

I can never bring myself to do away with them...when the Church library used to put them out for disposal, I would rescue them. I have boxes of old scriptures; everywhere!

 

Oddly enough, even though I do not believe that the pages themselves are anything more than just paper, I have tons of old scriptures that hang around in various places in my house, too.  My missionary set are of course special in the sense that they have a personal connection with me, but the rest are just paper.  But I still hang onto them.

I have never thought about this but to me, the actual physical book is not what is important but the teachings in the book.  Nobody treats the scriptures like the American flag. We are not supposed to put the flag on the ground but people put their scriptures on the ground all the time.  The Church has not given us direction on this issue as far as I know unlike the temple garment where it should be treated with respect.  I say dispose of the scriptures respectfully until direction is given otherwise.

My husband still uses his from his mission. It's well worn and some pages aren't glued in but he loves them because he finds things fast with a color coordinated system he used on his mission.
