I'm not sure why she was surprised by her excommunication.I think that one reason why she was surprised was because john dehlin seemed to escape such a fate. He set the bar with his conferences and chapters, plus his podcasts that often were not faith driven. I believe that she expected to continue with her duplicity for quite awhile. But she was exed and thus, shocked and surprised. Of course, john was exed shortly after. John should have been exed three years ago. He needed to be made an example of. But one must give the lds church some credit. They allowed him to do his work without a problem. I think that if john was exed three years ago, kate would still be a member because OW would not have gotten off the ground. Edited July 27, 2015 by why me
