SmileyMcGee Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I know you are being sarcastic but perhaps you should be more sensitive in your hyperbole because that stuff really happens.. I was molested by an older scout. No I didn't turn him in, I was embarrassed beyond belief. Whatever the Scouts do I will never, ever be a part of it. The Scout Troop I was in was not affiliated with the LDS Church.Point well taken. Good reminder. Especially since even jokes can trigger recall of experiences that no one should have to go through.
Scott Lloyd Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 That seems like a fanciful imagination. Has the national BSA leadership ever meddled in the affairs of an individual troop that way?The BSA leadership has never caved in to the gay-rights juggernaut until now. Things are happening awfully fast. That it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't.
Scott Lloyd Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) Of course you do because the gay regime actually gives a damn about the LDS church that much. After the way they vilified President Packer and Elder Perry with an orchestrated publicity campaign, minding their own business is the last thing I trust them to do.To the extent that they see the Church of Jesus Christ as one of the last holdouts in the culture war they've waged, I'm thinking they will spare no effort to crush the resistance.Edited to add: jwhitlock made an excellent post on another thread that applies here:In related news (and I won't discuss it in detail, since there are other threads on it) I found this interesting quote from scoutsforequality.org about the BSA decision and how it affects religious organizations:For decades, the Boy Scouts of America’s ban on gay adults has stood as a towering example of explicit, institutional homophobia in one of America’s most important and recognizable civic organizations. While this policy change is not perfect—BSA’s religious chartering partners will be allowed to continue to discriminate against gay adults—it is difficult to overstate the importance of today’s announcement. A few observations about this:- There is no acknowledgment by these particular gay rights activists of the need to balance religious freedom with all of this.- Religious belief that views homosexual behavior and SSM as wrong is going to be labeled and attacked - both legally and in the press - as discrimination.- The goal with gay activists and the BSA is not compromise; it's forcing any chartering religious organization to adjust their beliefs, doctrines, and policies about homosexuality in order to charter a scout troop. Religious freedom is not a consideration.- They will be continuing to work towards that goal. Compromise is not acceptable.Claims of discrimination are going to be used to force churches to comply. Along with the other clear challenges to religious freedom that have been specified on this thread, this can be added to it. Edited July 15, 2015 by Scott Lloyd
Scott Lloyd Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Oh good, Russell's here. CFR your claims of significant predatory sexual behavior in the homosexual community as you described. Also explain how a private organization requiring another private organization to do something is trampling religious freedom.Even for you Russell, this is a new intellectual low. It's not just governments that pose a menace to religious freedom. Often, governments are merely willing accomplices to the oppression inflicted by private parties.

Damien the Leper Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I'm not sure a Wikipedia link is sufficient evidence. It is publicly edited. Just as a professor would not accept it as a valid source for research, I will reject it also.

But I often find it useful for quick reference -- or answering a CFR. And as a starting point for information on a topic. Feel free to specifically rebut any portion of the entry if you can. Russell C McGregor Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) Oh good, Russell's here. CFR your claims of significant predatory sexual behavior in the homosexual community as you described. Certainly. http://www.partiradicaldefrance.com/reisman.pdf Also explain how a private organization requiring another private organization to do something is trampling religious freedom. If private organisation A is a church, a parachurch group, or even just an grouping of like-minded believers, and private organisation B reneges on a long-standing agreement whereby A can associate with B without compromising its well-known religious principles, and tries to coerce A into abandoning its principles in order to continue the association, then B has infringed the religious freedom of A. It's not rocket science. Even for you Russell, this is a new intellectual low. Oh dear. If this keeps up, I might descend all the way to your level! Edited July 15, 2015 by Russell C McGregor 1
aurelio Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Here's a Wikipedia entry on pederasty:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PederastyLooks like it has a long history.Yes. It has a long history. It is only one dark part of the moral depravity within the group. What? Citations are 15+ years old? Yes. Try to find a grant now that will allow anything to be studied that paints homosexuality in a bad light. One would be hard pressed...with the exception of HIV and illicit drug use. Even the NIH has somewhat current work cited for drug use. P.H. Gebhard and A.B. Johnson. The Kinsey Data. Saunders Publishing, 1979 Table 443, “Homosexual Sample: Age at First Post pubertal Homosexual Contact,” and Table 444, “Homosexual Sample: Age of Partner in First Postpubertal Homosexual Contact.” - Kinsey, in 1948 mind you, cites that 37% of all sodomites admitted to having sex with children under age 17. Kinsey is one of homosexuality's own. Ray Blanchard, et al. “Fraternal Birth Order and Sexual Orientation in Pedophiles.” Archives of Sexual Behavior, Volume 29, Number 5 (2000), pages 463 to 478. - The rate of same sex attraction is 620 times higher among pedophiles. K. Freund & R.I. Watson. “The Proportions of Heterosexual and Homosexual Pedophiles Among Sex Offenders Against Children: An Exploratory Study.” 18 34, Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy 34-43 (1992) - Homosexual males are 3x more likely than straights to engage in pedophile conduct.

SmileyMcGee Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 So you weren't interested in a response to your CFR then? Why issue it?I have no problem with Wikipedia, I resent the use of the source. What you're doing is akin to generalizing contemporary Mormons as having a problem with older men marrying teenage women because it was practiced historically. you extrapolate behaviors in certain cultures (the Romans) across the gay community, implying that the practice was due to their homosexuality and not other aspects of the broader culture in which they interacted. In the context of this thread, you essentially imply the gay = pedophile idea. Dishonest and disgusting, Scott...though hardly surprising. 1
aurelio Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Homosexuality is not contagious.Hmmm. Maybe not "contagious" but in a morally declining society, it is an anything and everything rodeo. Many "curious" out there in this free for all moral decline.

There was a call for references I endeavored to help answer it by showing that the practice not only exists but is so old and common it has a title. Mine may not have been the best of the responses to the CFR but there have been others since. Will you take cognizance of them or merely focus all your contempt on me? 1
Storm Rider Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Homosexuality is not contagious. That seems like you are classifying sexuality as either - or; that it is not flexible. Can you provide any studies that reveal that human sexuality is without flexibility? I keep going back to my mother's oft repeated refrain, "Mike, you cannot go down a chimney without getting any soot on you." The point is that the first time makes the second time all the more easier to commit. Someone who steals once will more easily steal twice as it is with any action - good or bad. Homosexuality is not a disease it is a behavior and behaviors are open to all. This is another reason why the Church has concerns about the creation of a society that is so ambiguous about what is right and what is wrong. 3
KevinG Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 How does one develope such blinding animus? Seriously Scott, you may not realize this, and you probably will deny it....But the LDS Church - by representation of the Council of the First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostle, who speak for Christ - can be considered a "gay rights advocate". The Church even announced its efforts for gay rights in the letter that was recently released. Of course this Eagle Scout feature in the picture (front center Pascal Tessier Eagle Scout and openly gay) is just looking to have easy access to teenage boys, right; because we can not trust "them gays" to do anything except recruit for their perverse lifestyle. The boy needs to be corrected for wearing his arrow sash and merit badge sash at the same time.
