iamse7en Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) I'm sure most are already aware of the third Mormon Hierarchy book coming out next year, which has been sent to Signature Books and I'm very excited about. However, there's a new book he's working on... He just signed a book contract with the University of Utah Press. "A detailed history of plural marriage among the Mormons from Sep 1890 to Dec 1907, or 1915 or 1925" - depending on how much original source material he receives/finds. This will be a more detailed and comprehensive version of his original, famous Dialogue article on Church-authorized, post-manifesto plural marriage. This announcement/info comes from a recent talk (video + q&a) (text) he gave to a group at Centennial Park. The talk comes highly recommended as he gives new, detailed background info on researching and writing that seminal article. Very excited! Edited April 20, 2015 by iamse7en 2
HappyJackWagon Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Quinn is sure an interesting character. He seems to be a true, literal believer despite the controversy he tends to dust up. 3

ALarson Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Quinn is sure an interesting character. He seems to be a true, literal believer despite the controversy he tends to dust up.I think he still has a testimony of Joseph Smith being a Prophet, but I don't know how much of a literal believer in today's church or that President Monson is a Prophet. That's my recollection at least, but I'm not sure about that.
iamse7en Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) He's a more literal believer than most "progressives:" believes in golden plates, an angel Moroni, historicity of the BoM, Joseph as a prophet and restorer of truth, restoration of authority by angelic administration, etc. But his knowledge and research of Church history is bar-none the best. Don't necessarily agree with all his conclusions, but his books and articles are among my favorites. Edited April 20, 2015 by iamse7en 4
HappyJackWagon Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 LOL! Best joke I have heard this week. Well done. I just listened to a new interview with him today. He is a literal believer in the first vision, priesthood restoration and Joseph's role as prophet, seer and revelator. He is a literal believer in the BoM. Glad I could bring a chuckle to your life, Neho! 3

Ham Clam Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Are you talking about DBMormon's interview on Mormon Discussion? That will come out to the general public in a couple weeks, I think. 1

canard78 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Maybe DBMormon could talk about how he got the interview? (If he comes and sees this thread).I'll email him and see. I think DB's getting a lot of respect and support. He walks a balanced line and so punches above his weight with some of his guests.

DBMormon Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) Maybe DBMormon could talk about how he got the interview? (If he comes and sees this thread).I think I have a reputation of being both honest and faithful in regards to the tough issues. I asked him and he said yes. If I may say so, it is one of, if not my best ever. Edited April 20, 2015 by DBMormon
