HOLY CATHOLIC Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Where in the Book of Mormon does it teach the pre-existence Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 7Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. 9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son. 10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. Notice how the Bible is clear that a pre-existence is myth since Jacob and Esau had done nothing before in the so-called pre-existence and one before being born was a child of God while the other was a child of the flesh and not a child of God
CCRW Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 It's Mormon Doctrine Holy Catholic. It is what it is. Some of which I have said here is more of an oral tradition. So sure, your scripture proves it wrong, to you. Once again, it is what it is. If those oral traditions mean something to me personally do you desire to take them away from me? Is freeing me of those meanings required for Christ to accept me?
CCRW Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Holy Catholic, God wispered in my ear at the time. What need of some written script would I choose over that?
strappinglad Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) While I am quote mining , here are a couple of strong suggestions if not commandments that will help us all occupy our time in productive ways. James 1:27King James Version (KJV) 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. D&C 19:31 And of tenets thou shalt not talk, but thou shalt declare repentance and faith on the Savior, and remission of sins by baptism, and by fire, yea, even the Holy Ghost. HOLY CATHOLIC Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 And what shall we do with Jeremiah 1:5 ? Do you believe God is omniscient and can speak of future events as confident as past events
strappinglad Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Do you believe God is omniscient and can speak of future events as confident as past events And here I thought I was reading the LITERAL word of God .I guess we just need to properly interpret His words. 3
CCRW Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 geeze thanks for chasing Holy off there stappinglad (you barrel chested or what?)
JLHPROF Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 do you put tradition over GOD'S WORD No, but I put actual revelation over records of sermons and letters by ancient apostles.
HOLY CATHOLIC Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 No, but I put actual revelation over records of sermons and letters by ancient apostles. I don't
JLHPROF Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I don't Then why should it surprise you that we follow different religions? And why should you care about mine? I'm really not all that bothered about yours.

HOLY CATHOLIC Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) We are not limited to the BoM. Try Abraham 3:21-28 Isn't the Book of Abraham a proven hoax and what does Joseph Smith say about the BOM and that he doesn't say about the Book of Abraham Concerning this record the Prophet Joseph Smith said: “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.” Introduction of Book of Mormon Our revelations say that the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of Gospel. { D&C 20:9, 27:5. 42:12, 135:3 } This is true in the sense that Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with a people who had the fulness of the gospel and therefore the laws and priciples leading to the highest salvation are found recorded in that book. The fullness consists in those laws, doctrines, ordnances, powers, and authorities needed to enable men to gain the fullness of salvation. CCRW Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Hey Holy Catholic ... how about teaching me about the Stations of the Cross or something interesting about Catholicism, would you be willing to do that? All this other gets so old. Oh and thanks for backing down on the graphics.

Mormon Doctrine page 333And what does this have to do with the price of tea in China? What I cited refers to the pre-mortal existence. What you cite has nothing to do with the topic. If you would like a BoM scripture that relates to our pre-mortal existence then read 2 Nephi chapter 2. It is all about the Plan of Salvation... If you do not know what that is, it starts with our pre-mortal existence. Ether 3 also refers to our pre-mortal existence. Edited April 19, 2015 by Flyonthewall

Sorry no Mormon plan of salvation found within the pages of the Book of Mormon and Ether 3 talks about Jesus existing as GOD before becoming man and we are Jesus's sons and daughters not the Fathers. Ether 3:14 Behold, I am he who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem my people. Behold, I am Jesus Christ. I am the Father and the Son. Wow, that is a completely incorrect interpretation of Ether 3:14. Good job.The plan of salvation is absolutely in the Book of Mormon. Once again, you just don't recognize it.

Flyonthewall Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 SHOW me I could be from MissouriRead 2 Nephi 2, and 2 Nephi 9, and Alma 12 and Alma 42. All outline the plan of salvation. Abraham 3 goes in to more detail about when the plan was presented before the foundation of the world as taught in the BoM. Hint: It helps if you actually read what is there without the filter of virulent anti-mormon influences. 1
