In many ways, my faith might be akin to that of the man who told the Savior, "Lord, I believe: help thou mine unbelief." I'm striving, in my own imperfect, inconsistent way, for the faith of a Job, who said, "The Lord giveth, and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job 1:21). As much faith as Daniel and his companions had that God could deliver them from the flames of King Nebuchadnezzar's fire, they were prepared for a different outcome if the need arose: "We know that our God is able to deliver us: but, if not ..." (see Daniel 3:16). The Apostle Paul said that "all things work together for the good of them that love God" (Romans 8:28)—not just the blessings, and not just the so-called "good" things, but all things. If it is God's will that someone be healed, if they have faith to be healed, and if they are "not appointed unto death," they will be healed (Doctrine & Covenants 42:48). I had a friend who was killed yesterday working construction - forklift holding a wall basically snapped off and fell on him. Great guy, father of 4 young kids, wearing his garments. I KNOW that who lives or dies is completely up to God. I KNOW that the garments promise protection from the attacks of the adversary which I believe can include physical protection. All I can conclude from these apparent dichotomies is that God can and will take us when he chooses, but if the adversary seeks to harm us we have the protection of the garment. And that's not contradictory.Bingo! That wasn't so difficult, was it? The rule of thumb I have adopted is that the protection afforded by the garment pertains to spiritual perils in almost every instance and only very occasionally does it extend beyond that.

And that's not contradictory.Think of the time period that is stated that you will be protected for.And yes, not all deaths, accidents etc are as a result of evil, in fact, very few probably are. Some may be just plain accidents or due to bad choices made by others. We are protected from the power of evil. But when your time is up, it's up. 1
