Why Aren't Mormons Christian?

You are a pebble. upon this rock do a build MY CHURCH. The question is what ROCK was Jesus referring. I believe it to be the revelation stated by Peter that Jesus is a DIVINE Messiah, and not that CHRIST was beginning a dynasty of  popes or apostles. On CHRIST the solid ROCK I stand  --- all other ground is but sinking sand.

You know, we agree. It was the revelation that Peter received through the HG that Jesus was who he claimed to be. That is the rock. What happens when that rock?

What church claims continuing revelation? Does yours? Popes? Funny, I cannot find the word Pope or Cardinal in the bible. But I do find Prophets, Apostles, Bishops and Deacons. I digress. We do agree what that rock is. I guess it is interesting that you then conflate revelation with Pope.

I think we may be getting into an area where language differences create the appearance of something that isn't so, at least for Catholics.

Computer is going to die so not going to the Vatican site, but using Wiki as a shortcut:

According to Catholic theology, there are several concepts important to the understanding of infallible, divine revelation: Sacred ScriptureSacred Tradition, and the Sacred Magisterium. The infallible teachings of the Pope are part of the Sacred Magisterium, which also consists of ecumenical councils and the "...ordinary and universal magisterium." In Catholic theology, papal infallibility is one of the channels of the infallibility of the Church. The infallible teachings of the Pope must be based on, or at least not contradict, Sacred Tradition or Sacred Scripture.

I get it. I guess I was just giving a shallow argument for some reason that I don't even know.

Well you're almost right.

The "ROCK" is revelation in general.  But since you don't accept any new revelation you are rockless.

God causes His adopted children in Jesus to endure.

According to your beliefs:

- we are adopted children of God

- we are joint-heirs with Christ

- we will dwell with God forever in his kingdom

- we were made in his image male and female

- we are to call him Father

- we are commanded to be as perfect as God is (through Christ of course)

- we will be crowned with glory by God

- we will receive immortal resurrected bodies

And yet you don't believe we can become as they are or that we are even the same species.  In fact despite everything God has said on the matter you find it sacrilege to say we can become as God is.

What is the point in your beliefs if we cannot become as they are?  It would be like me bestowing all my inheritance on my pet parakeet.  It doesn't want or need my inheritance and has no understanding of anything.

No, I think we are far closer in relationship to God and Christ that merely adopted pets.
