Why Aren't Mormons Christian?

If darkness is compared to the absence of light, and light had not been created, then there was no comparison to light in order to determine darkness.

Just gibberish.   Darkness is the absence of light.  If light did not exist then darkness reigned.  It is silliness to deny it.

Again, have you considered that this premise is wrong?

Not according to Jesus.

Rev 3:9 indicates that God will have the saints in Philadelphia worshiped.

Rev 3:9 speaks nothing of worship. It only says that they will acknowledge Gods love for those people. They bow out of respect for Gods people.

So, then, only the Holy Spirit can reveal the true interpretation of it.

What makes you think that your interpretation is correct?

Because the Holy Spirit was sent to guide the Church. Thus the true church never went into apostasy.

LOL!!!

The very existence of the Book of Mormon is evidence that it occurred.

I could write a book saying that I saw a tree sprout legs and walk. That doesn't mean it actually happened. Just as, according to you, I cannot use the Bible as a source to claim its inerrancy, neither can you use the Book of Mormon as a source to prove that story to be true. I was challenged to appeal to a historical reference other than the Bible so I challenged you to do the same.

Everything is not dependent on something else.

Including God?  Your argument is sillier than you know.

God was independent.

That is merely a presumption.  And not found in the Bible.

Everything else has been dependent upon Him.

This contradicts your first statement.

If things are non dependent on God, as you seem to suggest, then He needed not create anything.

Some things are dependent on God.  I didn't suggest otherwise.  You seem to be having reading comprehension problems.  God did create, or more accurately he organized things.

Then your views are borderline to atheistic views taking away the omnipotence, omnipresence, etc of God and making His existence irrelevant.

Again, you are having reading comprehension issues.  You are presuming things about me that have nothing to do with what I posted.  Instead of trying to read my mind, why don't you try reading and understanding my posts.

As far as God being omnipotent, I suggest that your God, as designed by your trinitarian philosophers, is impotent.  And I can explain why.

Really?  Again, that reading comprehension issue arises.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

True, when applied to the LDS Church.

Then there is no need for a first cause, is there?

Again, you seem incapable of grasping the point.

The mere existence of the book would clearly indicate that you did indeed write one.

Just as, according to you, I cannot use the Bible as a source to claim its inerrancy,

Who can claim that the Bible is inerrant?  If a man or group of men make such a claim, they would have to be inerrant for such a claim to be legitimate.  Can the Bible (an inanimate man produced object) make a claim about itself?  No.

neither can you use the Book of Mormon as a source to prove that story to be true.

Again, that reading comprehension issue arises.  I said nothing about "proof".

Do you even comprehend the difference between "evidence for" and "proof of"?

I was challenged to appeal to a historical reference other than the Bible so I challenged you to do the same.

Ok,

D&C 1:29 And after having received the record of the Nephites, yea, even my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., might have power to translate through the mercy of God, by the power of God, the Book of Mormon.

My reading comprehension is fine however yours is lacking. I did not contradict myself. You misquoted what I said. The first two statements went together: not everything was dependent, God was independent.

"My God?" I thought the LDS Church claimed it worshipped the same God as other Christians.

Not a matter of reading comprehension problems. A matter of different translations.

We do not worship the God of the post Biblical creeds.  We worship the God that reveals himself to man.

You took that comment out of context. It was followed by God was independent. Then everything else was dependent upon Him.

So no, it reinforces it.

but are not eternal because only God is eternal and worthy of worship (Revelation 22:9).

Only God is eternal? This is found no where in scripture. We are all eternal.

John 1:3 says all things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made. Exodus 20:11 God created the Heavens and the earth and all that was in them. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Nehemiah 9:6; Colossians 1:16; Psalm 148:2,5 angels are created beings and they are immortal (Luke 20:36) but are not eternal because only God is eternal and worthy of worship (Revelation 22:9).

This on again off again Resurrection thing must be really confusing.

Jesus came as a man to reveal himself to be Christ (God with us). Everyone who is Saved must realize this. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. And on this fundamental ROCK God builds HIS CHURCH.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Yes, upon the rock of revelation (which testifies to us that Jesus is the Christ, as well as other things) Jesus builds His church.

You are a pebble. upon this rock do a build MY CHURCH. The question is what ROCK was Jesus referring. I believe it to be the revelation stated by Peter that Jesus is a DIVINE Messiah, and not that CHRIST was beginning a dynasty of  popes or apostles. On CHRIST the solid ROCK I stand  --- all other ground is but sinking sand.

Christ built his Church upon the Revelation to Apostles and Prophets.

And what is that REVELATION? Go ye unto all the world and preach the GOSPEL.  What is that GOSPEL message?  I believe it is the death, burial, and resurrection of CHRIST.

Yep, that is the basics. Can't argue with that but where do you go now?

It is actually Faith in Christ, Repentance, Baptism for the remission of sin, receiving the HG and enduring to the end . It's not just about learning of Christ. It is about acting on what you have learned. That is the gospel.
