The Nehor Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 You must be a little younger than me, because this is the Weird Al Christmas song from my childhood! Sad thing is that song is rarely performed now. Weird Al realized that many of listeners equate ground zero with 9/11 now.
Tacenda Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Saw this on FB: Intro: There’s nothing I love more than an a cappella Christmas song. And Home Free’s performance of ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’ sent chills down my spine. AMEN! http://www.godvine.com/A-Cappella-Angels-We-Have-Heard-On-High-Will-Knock-Your-Christmas-Socks-Off-6465.html or this one, take your pick. http://www.ksl.com/?sid=32722813&nid=1284&title=lds-musicians-mormon-tabernacle-choir-release-christmas-music-video&s_cid=queue-4 Edited December 17, 2014 by Tacenda
Stormin' Mormon Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) Not necessarily my least favorite, but it bugs me more than it should: "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Especially the last verse where the shepherd boy is a complete idjit. First, he tells the mighty king that there's a child shivering in the night, and what is his solution? Not blankets, like any sane person would bring to a shivering baby, but silver and gold. Yeah, good thinking, shepherd boy. And then he compounds his idiocy by telling all this to the Mighty King, who, might I remind you, wants to murder the little baby and isn't afraid to kill a few extra innocents to ensure that the job gets done. Way to out the savior of the world to a homicidal maniac, dude. This shepherd boy is the worst! On a less cynical note, I've come to enjoy "Good King Wenceslaus," partly because it's so overlooked and things which are not popular are automatically cool (or so I've been told by my hipster friends). I also love it's old-fashioned yet catchy melody, and once I looked up the lyrics and understood the story the song is telling, I decided that its message was actually pretty sweet and touching. In short, I like the cut of its jib. Edited December 19, 2014 by Stormin' Mormon 1
