Anakin7 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) According to the Holy Scriptures can one really be Saved and not be a Disciple Of Jesus Christ and/or really Be A Disciple of Jesus Christ and not be Saved ?. Or are they inseparable/sealed to one another ?. In other word I ask can you have one without the other ?. I ask this in connection to Luke 14: 25-35. Thank you for your thoughts in advance. JLHPROF Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 By definition saved just refers to receiving resurrection and not remaining in the tomb - that's why "none are lost" except sons of perdition. All others are saved in some kingdom by Christ.As for being saved in God's kingdom with Christ that requires accepting Christ and baptism, which is what I would call discipleship.Now being exalted in God's kingdom is an entirely different thing from being saved in God's kingdom.

Ahab Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) I was a disciple of Christ, aka a Christian, before I became a member of the (true) Church of Jesus Christ, but I was saved only in the more limited sense then. I had not been baptized, properly and with the proper authority, nor had I received the gift of the Holy Spirit, so I wasn't born again until I became a member. And even now as a person who has been born again I still have a lot I need to learn, and I will continue to learn as long as I remain a Christian, even when I am an exalted and fully glorified Christian. Rob Osborn Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Whats important to note about the scripture posted is that the only one truly saved from hell is the disciple of Christ and it requires "full" obedience to every law he gives.

Can you have one without the other ?.In His Debt/Grace Anakin7There are different degrees of salvation, so while I can say yes to your question, and provide an example as in my earlier post, I'm not saying yes to the highest degree of salvation.You do realize every person is unconditionally saved from death, or the separation of the spirit from the mortal body, don't you? A person doesn't even need to be a disciple of Christ to receive that degree of salvation, meaning everyone will have their spirit restored with their mortal body and the mortal body changed to an eternal body that will not decay or die. Anything less than what Anakin was talking about would not be 100% of total salvation. It could still be anywhere between 1% and 99% of total salvation, though, and even 1% of total salvation is better than no salvation at all for those who need salvation. Edited July 3, 2014 by Ahab

You either get it or you dont. A reward of glory can be in degrees but that comes after salvation is acheived.
