VideoGameJunkie Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Either through marriage or through your parents? I'm so jealous of people who are, because I am single and my dad's not a member so I have not yet been able to experience being sealed in any way. I hope so more than anything for it to happen both ways some day.
JLHPROF Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Either through marriage or through your parents? I'm so jealous of people who are, because I am single and my dad's not a member so I have not yet been able to experience being sealed in any way. I hope so more than anything for it to happen both ways some day. Pretty sure this is a social hall topic, but yes, I am sealed both to my parents and my wife. The principle of sealing is beautiful, even beyond the joining of families forever. When I try to comprehend the idea that eventually (post-millennium when all sealings are complete) we will be united into one complete sealed family and presented to Christ as his inheritance I can barely comprehend it.The idea of entire inummerable worlds sealed together and bound by sealing to our eternal Heavenly Father in unending eternal chains in both directions being created, born, resurrected and exalted is incredible and awe inspiring...
VideoGameJunkie Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 If it is a social hall topic then feel free to move the thread. And I can't wait for the day when my sealing will happen. Eternal families is the most important thing to me.
VideoGameJunkie Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 I hope everyone who is sealed that's on this board knows how lucky and special they are. I would give anything to be sealed to my family and one day spouse. 1
halconero Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I am sealed to my parents. They're both converts, and I remember being sealed to them and my brother in the Cardston temple when I was 5 years old. I remember their smiles, my brother being held my a temple worker, the altar and mirrors and that everyone looked like (almost) white blobs. It was wonderful. If you have the opportunity, see if you can do vicarious (proxy) sealings in your nearest temple, better still if they're family members! They really remind me of, and help me appreciate the blessings of the sealing.
VideoGameJunkie Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 I have sealings of ancestors that I need to get done so I will try to do those in the temple as soon as possible.
Kenngo1969 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I hope everyone who is sealed that's on this board knows how lucky and special they are. I would give anything to be sealed to my family and one day spouse. You're no less special than anyone who has had that opportunity. As I hope your recent receipt of your patriarchal blessing proves, God knows you, as well as the desires of your heart; He loves you. No blessing will be denied you, provided you continue faithful. 1
Garden Girl Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I have sealings of ancestors that I need to get done so I will try to do those in the temple as soon as possible. This is what I was going to suggest... that you participate in some sealing sessions for your own family,... or don't wait and go and do some sealings for others... my ward has certain temple days where we go and do regular endowment sessions, or baptisms, or sealings. Sometimes the temple will put out a little sign on the desk that certain ordinances are needed, i.e., initiatories, sealings, baptisms. You could call your temple and inquire... At age 14, our family was sealed in the SLC temple... my sis and I were sealed to my mom and convert step-father... it was beautiful. One year and one day after my dear non-LDS husband passed away, I was in the temple being sealed to him as his eternal companion. One of my ward brothers stood proxy for my husband... I have full confidence and faith that my husband has accepted the ordinances performed for him, and that he is waiting for me along with my family... VGJ... who knows what your future holds here... but regardless, if you remain faithful, no blessing will be denied you whether in this life or the next... (but I do understand how you long for a sealing now) GG 1
VideoGameJunkie Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Thanks GG. It helps ease my worry when you say in this life or the next. It's happy thinking I still have a chance.
Ahab Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Either through marriage or through your parents? I'm so jealous of people who are, because I am single and my dad's not a member so I have not yet been able to experience being sealed in any way. I hope so more than anything for it to happen both ways some day.You are sealed to some of your parents, at some level, even if you have to trace your family line all the way back to Adam and Eve to see it, because when parents are sealed to each other as husband and wife their children are also sealed to them through all generations of time and throughout all eternity. All you need now is to have your own wife sealed to you, whenever you find her, and then you will eventually perpetuate your own family line. And it will happen for you, eventually, as long as you don't choose to totally reject the opportunity.
