I don't know why the host is saying that Mormons aren't allowed to own guns. Just shows that misconceptions exist still. Also, they are talking about polygamist sects right now. I'm not done watching the video yet but it seems like the host doesn't know they aren't exactly Mormons. Update: now he's calling them "Mormon-ish." Edited January 30, 2014 by CMZ

Romney's family left mexico last generation..I ont don't know how accurate it is. "the Mormons" talked about are not LDS, I believe...it's been awhile, could be purely heritage and not much belief. Around 12:20 it shows a document labeled with the name of their church, "The Millenial Church of JCLDS". That is not our church. Around 13:50 it says that the government of Mexico will not allow the fundamentalist "mormons" to bear arms. I don't have time to watch the rest, but it is clear they are not talking about US. They are talking about a fundamentalist, polygamous group. 1
mfbukowski Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Oh and I have LDS friends the the "Colonias". Some- as shown by the existence of the temple ARE LDS- our church. Others obviously are not. Romney is from a colony that IS LDS, and a friend of mine knew his family well- though not Mitt himself- their families were from the same town. Because both groups live near each other that doesn't mean that they are parts of the same group- any more than Baptists living next to Mormons anywhere else. The narrator obviously hasn't a clue about the different groups or what Mormons believe. It's like Sunni Muslims and Shiites living in the same area. They are all "Muslims" and to an outsider might be seen as one group, but clearly they are not. Edited January 30, 2014 by mfbukowski 1

He didn't say why he put it that way but I wondered if he had been briefed off-camera as to the difference. The Church News had mentioned that story about Meredith Romney being kidnapped a few years back. I'm wondering what the solution to the cartel violence is. It seems to be at such a huge, scary level.

The LeBarons are not connected with the LDS Church, but they seem to get along with their LDS neighbors and play golf together. Lots of LDS Mormons live there and in other parts of Mexico.

I've seen things on FB and the news that makes me think it possible that he could run again. As to polygamy, I believe in it with certain caveats. It is not a moral issue. It should be scrupulously voluntary. No old guys marrying 14 year olds, And, no illegal activity.

Sometimes he acts like a dork to me. But after watching how he interacts with his wife and family, he is an adorable, loveable dork. I just he is tough enough to swim with the vermin in DC.
