And no, not all prophets were as great or had as great of a role as Joseph Smith had. And yet all prophets were and are prophets like Joseph Smith was. God does the revealing while prophets simply share what God has revealed. If you want God to reveal more, talk to God about that.Thanks, that is my point. when I read the OT, it seems like a really incredible prophet only comes around every few hundred years, if that. Why cant the modern church be similar.

It makes it difficult to have a frank discussion about some topics. As you have read my posts I think it is fair to say that I have probably offended or caused concern among certain faithful. On the other hand, there are individuals such as yourself that are fearful that the sky is falling. Let's remember a few things: It is my strong testimony that no other Christian church comes close in having a valid, complete teaching about why God created the world and why we are his children. They possess many truths, but they miss the grand design of who God is and his purpose for us. The priesthood authority is real; it is impossible to read the New Testament and conclude that anyone at any time can pick up the calling and call themselves a priest or one having authority. It is impossible to find a Christian denomination or church outside of the Latter Day Saint Movement that follows the same organization that Christ instituted. I continue to belief, in spite of our human shortcomings, that the heavens remain open and that God continues to speak to his children.Some of us may have concerns about some of the actions of our leaders, but I am adamant that they are called of God and the mantle is on their shoulders. Our leaders are men, but I will take Brigham Young any day of the week over almost all leaders of any other faith known to man. The Lord took a weak vessel and make him strong and our Father accomplished a great work through his chosen servant. We are going through a time of reflection as a membership (some of us) and I suspect our leaders are doing the same thing. There is nothing that has been lost or eternally harmed. Have faith and count our blessings for they are many. 2

It feels to me we are just getting into tapping into some wonderful things about the Church. Part of me feels like we've been in some shroud of darkness for some time and we are figuring out how to poke our heads out into the light, getting ready to ingest a whole new world. Sheesh I hope I'm right. I've been bored for too long.

Such are always more productive/constructive IMO. If the LDS church was actually being led by true prophets, THEY would be the ones leading us into the light and out of the "shroud of darkness". The day for leadng from behind is over. It is the rising up and questioning of the people that is causing the leadership to be fearful that they are losing control and authority. If the things that I have heard the "faithful" say here on this website had been spoken aloud in church even 10 years ago, they would have been called out, denounced and sent to the Bishop's office if not worse. To look at this thing in a "positive" way is like.........."can you hand me those rose colored glasses.....? I think I'm getting depressed and I don't know what to do about it........"

I doubt very much that the things some faithful have said on this site would have gotten them called out 10 years ago any more than today. There might be an example or two that we can pose as exceptions. No one needs glasses to look at it all in a positive way. 1
