The Non-Inerrancy Of Mission Presidents

It is sad to feel like being inactive after only 28 months.

I would not be surprised if this happens a lot with new converts between the discomfort of shifting cultures that is just a natural experience that occurs whenever we change our communities, whether it is moving into a new neighbourhood or a new faith and the shock of having our expectations challenged by the realities of the new community.

I don't have anything negative to say about my mission presidents -- they were decent enough. I was, however, taught more false doctrine at the MTC than I had been exposed to in my previous 19 years. :)

A bishop may be called, but that does not make him a good bishop or even a worthy bishop (worthy of guidance, discernment, etc. - not worthiness worthy). I am very circumspect about what I say and what I do with any bishop or church leader. When I am confident of who they are, I talk more easily. Until such time I keep quiet, watch, and just observe. I can respond to any questions as needed for appropriate bishop duties, but there is just too much difference between one bishop and another. Ellen, silence is a golden principle to guide us at all times. Sometimes, a direct response is appropriate, and always to learn to ignore the stupid and the lame we meet along life's path. We have one Lord, one Master, and one Father; the rest are just along for the same ride.

Forgiveness is given. Period. Your view is a particularly nasty one . . . reminds me of the curser in Drag Me to Hell, who, even from beyond the grave, keeps torturing the low-level bank employee who was the messenger reporting that the foreclosure sale would go on to its sad conclusion.

Since you bring it up, Do you forgive loans, as well?

Are criminals forgiven without retribution or payment? Is immorality forgiven without repentance?

I have eaten more unpaid and partially paid bills over my career than I can even get my head around. Like the credit card company, however, my rates rise to make up for those who stiff me . . . I have a policy of not going after clients for unpaid fees ever since I got crossways of Sim Gill over his relative's unpaid bill owing to me. He made it very ugly, and life's too short.

And if I have to explain crime/punishment, commercial debt enforcement, and repentance/forgiveness to you, I'm afraid I'll have to assume a profundity of ignorance so deep and so wide that you could only be tabula rasa . . . and we all know that's not you. So why ask the silly questions?

Forgiveness doesn't wipe out the sin for someone who doesn't repent, but that doesn't mean we can't forgive them anyway.

Forgiveness is all about letting go of harsh feelings you have against someone for something they did which you feel was wrong.

First of all it's going to bother you at least a little bit, because you feel it was wrong, but you can choose to just let it go and get on with your life without hoping they'll say they're sorry, or show you they feel bad about it, or for them to try to make restitution.

i know it's nice when they try to make restitution, and I usually try to remember to say "Thank you" when they do, but that's not the big payoff for me. The biggest benefit to me for forgiving someone else is to not have those harsh feelings anymore.
