Hello All,

I am looking for a vacation house rental that will accommodate our ward youth conference July31st-August 3rd 2013 in Salt Lake City, UT. We will be coming from Grand Junction, CO. We will have approximately 15 youth and 10 Adults. We do not require beds for everyone. The youth will be bringing sleeping pads / cots. We can afford approximately $400.00 a night. We will be spending one day at Lagoon and another day at Temple Square, so the closer to those two venues the better. I have looked at all the options on VRBO.com. There are a couple of nice homes on that website that will work, but they are not the greatest of locations (Draper and Herriman). I was hoping to find something a little closer / convenient to the two attractions listed above. There are other vacation rentals on VRBO that would work for us, but are too expensive. So, maybe someone knows the owner or owns one of these homes that would be willing to give us a price break. Many folks in our ward have relatives or friends that we could stay with in the SLC area, but this would require our group to be split up at different places throughout the valley. We want to avoid that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to check at nauvoo.com forums that are all LDS and probably has more members from that area then we do here.

Rent the Church. You would just have to have it straight for Sunday.

I thought of this for about a half second. Edited by Tacenda

Actually how would they like camping right at Lagoon? They have a campground there. Or, I could look for something on KSL if you want.

They would probably have to rent 2 churches, one for each gender. They could also rent some cots for sleeping. From the leftover money they save they could have their meals catered by the RS .LOL!

Several years ago, I toyed with the idea of exchanging my home here on the coast with a home in SLC area for a month or so (would still like to do it) as I wanted to have plenty of time to enjoy Temple Square etc,, and to take some side trips to paint. I contacted a realty company in SLC and they said that they didn't handle those types of exchanges yet but were planning to do so in the near future. While I can't remember the name of the realtor, you could go online and see if any realtors in the area handle such rentals/exchanges. They might have info on a short rental that would fill your need.

(I always pictured exchanging homes with an artist or writer as this is a wonderful location for such activity).

Isn't there a movie about this? With Cameron Diaz and I forget the other actress? I'll try to come up with the title, but it was good.

I did see it... I think it was called something like "The Vacation." Yes it was good...

ETA: There are several that sleep less but maybe if you contact the owner they would be fine with more than what it sleeps! That was fun checking these out!

Thank You All! I had not looked at www.homeaway.com. I forwarded the links from Tacenda to our leaders and we will see what they like. I was really hoping to find one between SLC and Lagoon, but I haven't had any luck there. I did find one in Bountiful that would be perfect, but the owner would not rent to us. A previous youth group ruined it for everyone else.

Nah... boys could be in the cultural hall; girls could be in the RS room... ours are at different ends of the building. The kitchen could warm food (for some reason, insurance I think, we are only allowed to warm up food vs actual cooking). We have a microwave also. I do think there is some prohibition to such use of the bldg because whenever our ward hosts a stake dance/activity here on the coast they ask members to open their homes and provide breakfast for those staying in their homes, and to drive them to the Church for whatever activity.

My non-LDS husband was so good one year... we hosted eight teenage girls and their leader. We picked them up after their dance Friday night and took them to our home... he had bought 8 stuffed animals of varying types... teddy bears, etc. When the girls went downstairs where they would be sleeping they were to draw a number, which matched a number pinned on one of the animals. That was theirs to sleep with and take home. The next morning he was up very early preparing one of his famous breakfasts (eggs, fried potatoes, bacon/sausage, toast, fresh fruit. cereal). I had set up my table to seat everyone, so we all sat down and ate together... what a wonderful time we had...
