Poor posture.

Now that you've mentioned it...I can see the line of her whole body and feel in pain just thinking about it. That whole slinky in high heels look that is supposed to be attractive and only results in me wanting to take a trip to the chiropractor.

Someone mentioned something about being surprised at the cost of temples....I think it would be a shame to have that distraction of trying to calculate how much of the price tag was this room or that chandelier when attending the temple, even if it was just going on in the back of our minds.

I have no doubt you trust the judgement of the LDS Leaders more than you do mine. You probably should in most cases. I don't have the full piciture nor do you. Yet you can glibley say I am certainly wrong when I state an opinion that the mall was likely a poor investment. But I do in fact have statements by LDS leaders posted in this very thread that this mall was in fact something that would not result in a good rate of return and someone who was an independent investor would likely have not made the investment.

And it is another clear fact that the Church spent more on this mall, this great and spacious building, than it has the past 20 years on humanitarian aid not counting fast offering asssistance. That does seem wrong to me coming from the Church that claims to be Jesus' Church.

But my point is you seem to take a position on an issue like this that because the Church is Jesus's Church and the leaders who lead it are called by him then I am sure they are doing the right thing. Yet bring up an issue like Adam God, or some other teaching apologists want to run away from and then well, the leader is fallible or it is only his opinion. You want it both ways. And yes it us funny to watch you do this.

Historically it is clear the the LDS leaders have not always done a good job managing the funds of the Church. My guess, though I do not know, nor do you, is that they are doing a very good job now. Probably the past 50 years has been the best they have done with the funds they are responsible for. Yet if they can blow it in the past they can do it again. Transparancy helps to avoid that.

I have no doubt you would not donate to any other organization in the world to the level you do the Church with the same secrecy involved. Funny thing is I don't like it still I donate to it substantially. So no this is not a deal killer for me. Anyway, I may or may not continue in this thread. I am not changing anyone's mind here nor are you or they changing my mind.

A former neighbor who works for the church in the department of temple building, told my husband that there wasn't a budget for the Lord's temple. Edited by Tacenda

Here you are guilty of slanting.

The statement was to the effect that the Church, by nature, has other considerations when contemplating such a venture that go beyond the mere expectation of a profit. These include investing in the revitalization of the community where the headquarters of the Church and some of its sacred spaces are located.

And it is another clear fact that the Church spent more on this mall, this great and spacious building, ...

Please spare me the snide misapplication of scripture.

... than it has the past 20 years on humanitarian aid not counting fast offering asssistance. That does seem wrong to me coming from the Church that claims to be Jesus' Church.

Why are you discounting fast-offering assistance?

In any event, there are a number of tasks the Lord expects his kingdom to perform in the latter days. I'm fine with that, and I don't see the need, as a member, to demand a strict accounting. As I said, I trust that duty to others.

Over time, dross such as the Adam-God theory, if it ever had any substantial following to begin with, has blown away. Meanwhile, the Church as governed by prophets, seers and revelators acting as a body has continued to fill the mission which its Founder, the Lord Jesus Christ has decreed.

Historically it is clear the the LDS leaders have not always done a good job managing the funds of the Church.

My impression is you don't know as much about the inner workings of Church administration in the 1950s as you think you do.

My guess, though I do not know, nor do you, is that they are doing a very good job now. Probably the past 50 years has been the best they have done with the funds they are responsible for. Yet if they can blow it in the past they can do it again. Transparancy helps to avoid that.

Becuase of what Brother Bushman has termed the routinization of charisma, I'm not hung up with suspicion about how the Church administers its funds. I'm free to focus on matters more important to me.

I have no doubt you would not donate to any other organization in the world to the level you do the Church with the same secrecy involved.

I would have no reason to. There is only one Church of Jesus Christ.

Funny thing is I don't like it still I donate to it substantially. So no this is not a deal killer for me. Anyway, I may or may not continue.

That's your business. Just as trusting the prophets and apostles while not demanding a strict accounting of the expenditure of tithing funds or business investments is mine.

I am not changing anyone's mind here nor are you or they changing my mind.

I suspect that's true.

This thread has run its course.
