Rather those moves will be made publicly or privately I don't know.Also Jon Huntsman was a Chinese diplomat for President Obama. It is not that big of a leap for him to be in the running for Secretary of State.

Buckeye Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Should Clinton decide to run for 2016 she will certainly leave SOS, probably within the next year. Replacing her with Hunstman has a lot of appeal. Obama honestly likes and trusts the guy - he previously appointed to the China post. There should not be any hard feelings from Huntsman's failed candidacy. It didn't go far, there was no harsh attack on the President, and all it really showed is that the GOP is a small tent. Tapping Huntsman goes a long way to showing bipartisanship - he's GOP and a Mormon (a two-fer !). And (cynically), it removes a potential rival to Clinton, Biden, or whoever else runs in 2016.

Also, the last thing the church needs is a Jack Mormon representing the church. Say what you will about Romney but he was a good man and a model Mormon. 1

The GOP will moved somewhat to the middle by 2016, but not nearly enough for Huntsman to lead.From the church's perspective, I think Huntsman is a great representative. He's right in line with the type of members the church is currently placing at the forefront of the mormon.org campaign. We trumpet women who start careers before having childen (Athelia Kaye Woolley LeSueur), rock stars who previously drank and some of whose lyrics might not pass for church dances (Brandon Flowers), Presidential candidates whose grandchildren were born through surrogate mothers even though the CHI says that's wrong (Mitt Romney), and may other "lifestyles" that were decried by previous church leaders. Thankfully, we are (slowly) learning that our culture is not our gospel. So yes, Huntsman is a great example of a mormon.

If he wants to have a serious presidential run, as some have suggested, he won't accept the hypothetical SOS nomination.From the church's perspective, I think Huntsman is a great representative. I think you give Huntsman more credit than he deserves, although some think Reid is a better example of mormonism than Romney so its all really a matter of opinion anyway.
