Will A Mormon Ever Occupy The White House?

Should Clinton decide to run for 2016 she will certainly leave SOS, probably within the next year.

Replacing her with Hunstman has a lot of appeal. Obama honestly likes and trusts the guy - he previously appointed to the China post. There should not be any hard feelings from Huntsman's failed candidacy. It didn't go far, there was no harsh attack on the President, and all it really showed is that the GOP is a small tent. Tapping Huntsman goes a long way to showing bipartisanship - he's GOP and a Mormon (a two-fer !). And (cynically), it removes a potential rival to Clinton, Biden, or whoever else runs in 2016.

John Kerry is being considered seriously for SOS

I think there was a COC member running for congress in Iowa this year. I think they lost. Too bad.

They are wonderful people. I think it was in 2004 when I was in Nauvoo for the celebration of JS birth and the LDS and CoC co-headlined the event. When I saw President Hinckley sitting next to President McMurry...I was thinking "A prophet and a prophet" as I looked back and forth between the two. It was also fun to see the interactions between both sides apostles.

I forgot about her... do you think she would be ready to run in 2016 though? I dont really know her positions on a national level all that well.

Not a chance. The GOP may pick a black woman, but they have no need to go out of their way to pick a mormon black woman. They already have the mormon vote in the bag. I think highly of Mia, but she hasn't really won anything yet. 2016 is way too early to even consider her for VP.

I vote for Margaret Merrill Toscano. Wait...she isn't a member anymore. Would she still count?

Depends. For me if she played the Mormon card I probably wouldn't vote for her. I don't like politicians whom play the religion card anyway. However policies matter most so I'd have to see.

I don't see it happening. Obama is a lame duck we will see a whole lot more partisanship. Mark my words!

Rofl. That has already happened. What we will see is more debt and higher inflation. I really fear the most his is horrendous foreign policy. Benghazi anyone?

The reality is that even if Romney won the economy is going to tube. The major difference is the military and his foreign policy. I hope Isreal is left after all this.

You know what we really need?... A republican, black, female, mormon candidate... what are the odds? Can we convert Rice?

Yout forgot. The need to be gay too.

But Mia Love is excatly what you out lined.

She is awesome and I really wanted her to represent me. Oh well. Stuck with Jim.

I could see Love being someones VP pick but I think she needs more national experience before she will be ready for the presidency.

Much more experience. Look at Sarah Palin, who was decried as lacking experience even though she had been a governor for over two years. Picking a woman is great, but she must have accomplishments or the choice will seem as a weak ploy for votes.

If Huntsman did accept the SOS he wouldn't be able to run in 2016, there is NO WAY the GOP would nominate someone from within Obama's cabinet.

Also, the last thing the church needs is a Jack Mormon representing the church. Say what you will about Romney but he was a good man and a model Mormon.

Where are you getting the idea Jon Hunstman is a Jack Mormon and a bad guy?

I have to disagree with you on both of those

I do agree that Mitt Romney is a good guy though.

Perhaps his statement in the Globe

But in public remarks they have drawn strikingly different religious self-portraits. Romney is highly active and orthodox – he was a top local lay leader in Massachusetts for years, and he has embraced his church unequivocally: “I believe in my Mormon faith and endeavor to live by it,’’ he said in a major speech in 2007.

Huntsman has called his adherence to Mormon practices “tough to define.’’ He has described himself as more spiritual than religious and as someone who gets “satisfaction from many different types of religions and philosophies.’’

National debt has actually gone done under Obama. Bush started two wars, gave a Trillion Dollar tax cut geared to the rich, and Medicare Part D. ALL put on the nations' credit card. Inflation is virtually nonexistent.

Fact There Have Been At Least 15 Attacks On U.S. Embassies And Consulates Since 1979 -- Including Seven Under George W. Bush. U.S. embassies and consulates were attacked at least 15 times under the presidencies of Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush. Seven of those attacks occurred during the presidency of George W. Bush

Americans were on their way within minutes of when the attacks in Libya began.

The Libyans tried to rescue the Americans. Even carrying the Ambassador to the hospital The Libyan's responded by burning to the ground the terrorists compound.

Bin Laden anyone.

Fact is the Stock market has doubled, the economy is on the rebound, and we've had 32 months of job growth. As opposed to a Great Recession with its 700,000 job loses under Bush.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Neytanyahu said this:

"I would like to express my gratitude to the president of the United States, Barack Obama," Netanyahu said. "I asked for his help. This was a decisive and fateful moment. He said, 'I will do everything I can.' And so he did. He used every considerable means and influence of the United States to help us. We owe him a special measure of gratitude."

"This attests to the strong alliance between Israel and the United States," the Israeli leader said. "This alliance between Israel and the United States is especially important in these times of political storms and upheavals in the Middle East."

The US has and will keep the strongest military the world has even seen. One US nuclear sub has more destructive potential that was used in all of WW2. We have more Aircraft Carriers than the rest of the world combined. We are literally less than one hour away from incinerating any spot on the globe, and can have troops on the ground anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours.

President Obama and Russian Prime Minister Medvedev have signed a Nuclear Arms Reduction Pact.

That does not mean anything... I feel the same way Huntsman does and I am still active by anybody's standards.

Perhaps you are an active jack mormon... I kid, I kid

sigh... so much spin and misinformation... where to begin. :beatdeadhorse:

No spin, no misinformation. Begin anywhere you like. I can backup every single thing I say.

And I still didn't vote for Obama.

I'd rather not turn this into a political thread more than it already is, perhaps another time...
