Christian Mormon Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 is there a way i can find out membership records for partmember families?. i want to find out if husband/wife is member or not.thx
Buzzard Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Ask your ward mission leader. If he doesn't know, he is (a) not doing his job, and (b) can contact the ward clerk to find out. Or just download LDS tools onto your smartphone. If the spouse is a member, he or she will be on the ward list.
Kenngo1969 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 And the fun part of it is that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has something called a linking record, which is designed to link a nonmember to the rest of his or her family who are members of the Church, and there's no way to tell the difference in MLS between a linking record and an actual membership record without contacting Membership Processing. Apparently, those in Membership Processing have CXM-7000-B Magic Decoder Rings which enable them to tell the difference.
rpn Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 First, you need to ask yourself why you need that information, as it is improper to go through the church records looking for information if you do not have proper stewardship. If you are the HT, why don't you just ask? And if you aren't close enough to do that, you probably aren't close enough to go through the membership records and find out who their family is (which can be pretty dang intrusive and offensive). Further, if you have stewardship, Heavenly Father will get you the info you actually NEED, if you just ask Him.

Calm Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Or they could just be interacting with the spouse and not want to say something awkward.....
mfbukowski Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 With the right credentials, and the right password to show them, all you have to do is pull up the membership ordinance record and see who is baptized and who isn't, "right credentials" being the operative word here. The real question being who wants to know and why. 1
