mfbukowski Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) This odd thought flickered through my mind for a moment and I thought I would post it just for fun.I guess this could be an idea for a Mormon sci-fi thing, but:What if there was a Mormon US president who visits Jerusalem in the middle of a mid-east conflict of major proportions, and he and maybe a Mormon aid, or advisor, are both killed by some kind of anti-Israeli faction, who capture their bodies and then the bodies are displayed in triumph......And suppose Israel then Israel attacks the state who directly or indirectly sponsored the attack, maybe say Iran, and suppose then we support Israel, which we would especially if it was a US president who was assassinated, and then Russia, the "army of the North" supports Iran, which it might.... which causes World War 3.....Sound familiar?http://institute.lds...08-jer-ez-I.aspMaybe we are closer than we think......Start diggin them fallout shelters..... What was a little scary when I got the thought in the OP was it was the first time I think I put my understanding of all the prophecies into an actually viable scenario which could actually happen"The testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy"- so the prophets do not have to be members of the Q of 12. When I thought of that it was a little chilling, because it seemed that the OP scenario would fit all the requirements both for Mormon teachings AND a real-life reason why the USA would care that two Mormon elders would be killed.If one was the president, and the other a high-ranking aid, clearly the US government would be instantly involved.That was the scary clincher for me.

Can I get in on this?

Everyone else is the "bad guys". Didn't you learn in school that the USA is always right? No seriously- I think we would just be counted as among Israel- maybe- I don't know? Ephraim? Or maybe just as the "gentiles" we play a small role in the prophecies but perhaps a big role in the conflict?Dunno. For the hypothesis to work, all we need is a superpower leader who is LDS- it could be anyone I suppose.

POTUS also decides that for the parade which will be held for the Constitution, he POTUS, will ride a white horse along the vehicle which houses the constitution, his white horse is a tribute to Washington. Well what if during the parade the convoy is attacked and POTUS leaps to save the constitution which was hanging by a thread becuse the anti-shock cables holding the constitution were damaged.
