All posts have to focus on discussion (such as discussion someone else's preaching, for example, as this thread is). This isn't a testimony-focused board. It focused on discussion. I will not be able to disguise that I have an "eye" on the prize. Atheists enjoy their satire of religion. Is this board agreed to do no better?

It doesn't need to be disguised in the least.If you can't keep your eye on the prize and follow the board rules though, then this probably isn't the board for you. Hopefully you'll find another place that will be a better fit if you decide this isn't it.

I mean, sure, they will discover why a phrase like, "a polished shaft in the quiver of the Lord' was used. If the Hebrews did not understand Hebrew, they would not have been able to hear any of Jesus’ discourses and they would not have been able to join his fold. Your erroneous comparison would be like saying you do not need to speak English in order to listen to general conference in English. Our understanding of Hebrew, for example, has helped us understand the meaning of 'be ye therefore perfect' and lead to a wonderful discourse by Elder Nelson on the subject. It is counterproductive to make accusations without evidence. What evidence do you have concerning your condemnation of Nibley? For that matter, it would be helpful if you were a bit less cryptic because I am not clear what your point is. After I filter through your rhetoric I not see much of a massage.

After I filter through your rhetoric I not see much of a massage.The only filter necessary to understand "Xioneye" is the recognition that this is our old friend Nightlion, who posts only to offer nonsensical condemnations of a Latter-day Saint theology he neither comprehends nor cares to understand.He is here to stir up trouble and preach the "Gospel According to Nightlion"- in short, "to be seen and heard of men".When condemning legitimate (and sane) scholars such as Nibley for allegedly chasing fame and recognition, Nightlion/Xioneye is only lamenting his own lack of success in the field.It is the typical "sour grapes" attitude- an attempt to spoil and deride what one cannot himself obtain.It also helps to understand that his last half-dozen posts have been a quixotic litany of proclamations he is being persecuted and a (hopefully successful) quest to be banned (yet again) and thus reinforce his facade of martydom and victimhood.
