Zakuska Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Christ said he would send an Angel with the Gospel to preach from heaven so how do you know you have the correct one?
Benji Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I understnad completely about the Old and New covenant. Christ took the old covenant and made it much harder and more stringent to live. Once again, this reveals that you have a gospel of works and not grace. This is not the gospel Paul preached.Benji
Zakuska Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Paul didnt preach a "workless" Gospel.Grace through faith for works. Why does modern Christianity remove works from the equation? If works dont come are you really saved?
Benji Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Christ said he would send an Angel with the Gospel to preach from heaven so how do you know you have the correct one?Because I can compare what is said with the Bible and see if it matches. Mormonism is clearly not the same gospel.Benji
Zakuska Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 How do you know what the Bible says is correct. Its been changed many times over.
koakaipo Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Benji-how do you identify yourself now in terms of your religious affiliation?
Benji Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Paul didnt preach a "workless" Gospel.Grace through faith for works. Why does modern Christianity remove works from the equation? If works dont come are you really saved? Ephesians 2:8-9For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith
Zakuska Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 If Im not mistaken Benji lives in Washington or Oregon and is attending some seminary that doesnt even know about the devine council of Gods. (Deut 32)
Benji Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Benji-how do you identify yourself now in terms of your religious affiliation? I am a Christian, koakaipo

Benji Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 How do you know what the Bible says is correct. Its been changed many times over. The Bible is the most reliable ancient text we have. It is also considered a work of art containing profound wisdom, even by many non-Christians.Benji
Benji Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 LIke what persuasion exactly? It justs makes it easier if I understand if I'm talking to a Catholic or a Presbyterian... I do not believe in denominations, koakaipo. I'm just a follower of Jesus.Benji
Zakuska Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 RFOLWork of Art?!!!!!Perhaps you need to read some Bart Erhamn. "Orthodox Coruption of Scripture" From Chapel Hill in Chicago, or maybe Some Margaret Barker. The Bible is a hodge podge of religious ideas from the world over. Its been subject to some of the worst theologically driven translation the world has ever known.
Benji Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Its not a "Grace Alone" doctrine.THe correct equtions is:Grace + faith = WorksThe difference between Mormonism & Christianity is simple. It has to do with the motivation behind the works. Mormons are motivated to do works in order to do everything they can to be righteous. What Jesus did on the cross is not sufficient to make one righteous in Mormonism. This is seen here in Mormonism's 3rd article of faith: We believe that through the aAtonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. Mormons are also trying to earn their way into the celestial kingdom. Christians, on the other hand, are motivated by gratitude. They are so overwhelmed and in awe that the God of the universe would take on human flesh and die for them that they can do nothing else but overflow with good works. They know that their works are filthy rags when compared to what the sinless Christ did. They also know that their works don't earn them a single thing with God. Jesus paid the price fully and there is nothing that anyone can add to it.Benji
Zakuska Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Mormons are motivated to do works in order to do everything they can to be righteous.Baloney! What drives the welfare program but thousands of donated Hours in Christ like Labor! Shows what little you did know about the LDS church. Christians don't beleive in works period. You just said so your self.Eph 2:8-9
Benji Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 What drives the welfare program but thousands of donated Hours in Christ like Labor! How about trying to attain the "highest level of glory"?benji
Benji Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Highest level of Glory <> salvationAre you denying the Mormon doctrine of the celestial kingdom that only the most righteous Mormons enter?Benji
Zakuska Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Highest level of Glory = Exaltation or the crown the most battle botty you can get. Thus the prodigal son ended up a servant in his fathers house because his reward was all burned up. Where as the obedient son got everything the father had.
Benji Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Thus the prodigal son ended up a servant in his fathers house because his reward was all burned up. Where as the obedient son got everything the father had. That was a parable and not referring to heaven.Benji
Zakuska Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Shows what little you know of the Spiritual side of the Parables!Who do you think the "man" is cast in all of Christs Parables? The one who had servants and sent his son into his vineyard and they killed him?
Benji Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Who do you think the "man" is cast in all of Christs Parables? Each parable was different, Zakuska.Benji
Zakuska Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Each Parable has a double meaning and where talking about the Kingdom of Heaven. On earth as it is in heaven. Thus the Apsotles asked him why he taught in Parables. Then he would expound the secret hidden meaning that the spirit would manifest.Well got to go.
Benji Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Each Parable has a double meaning and where talking about the Kingdom of Heaven. That's not true, Zakuska.Benji
