Added To or Taken Away?
ZealouslyStriving replied to ZealouslyStriving's topic in General Discussions
Absolutely not- and addressing the premise of the question is a perfectly legitimate way to participate in the conversation also. I would tend to think that the former would be better as it adopted from Judaism a cannon free of the need to negate the influence of a certain Rabbi from Galilee. Why did we end up accepting the KJV anyways? Didn't Joseph use a version with the Apocrypha. I think we have done too much celebrating of a specific version instead of just the fact that the text was made available to the common literate man (or woman). -
To which "defect" are you referring?

Make your best case... Did the Catholic/Orthodox Church(es) add to the Bible or did the Protestant Reformers remove from the Bible? Go!

Well, the traditional story is that Mary gave birth to a daughter.

How do you figure? Seems to be a lot of assuming going on. If he was already partly divine and his wife (or wives) were mortal wouldn't that make his offspring 1/4 divine? 😉 I think his offspring would inherit his mortal qualities. The reason I believe they were hidden (not talked about) is so they wouldn't be harassed and worshipped as God's on Earth by undiscerning people.

I believe Jesus fulfilled every obligation as a husband.

Because it tracks with the Law of Adoption found throughout the scriptures and Gospel. And those descendants through adoption are the ones who have been an influence for good throughout the world- Joseph's physical seed has only had a small impact and has been a cause of division within the Restoration in general and their own movement in particular. You need to have a comprehensive view of the Restored Gospel and it history to gain a proper understanding.

I thought that's what I said.

I think the missionary experiences of Ammon and Aaron should definitely be part of this discussion. They didn't tell Lamoni or his father that their "Great Spirit" God was a false or different God- they just acknowledged their belief in God and taught them the truth about that God.

The Church of England has Just Fallen Into Apostasy!
ZealouslyStriving replied to Pyreaux's topic in In The News
Again, as I said, she supported Joseph III when he accepted the position being offered to him by Briggs and Gurley- but to say she was instrumental in starting in Reorganization is simply not factual. She didn't encourage JSIII to accept the position being offered him, she went along with him when he did. Even RLDS literature talks about her reluctance in having her sons involved in church affairs- yet we have this perception in the Church that she almost singlehandedly started the Reorganization and installed her boy as the new prophet. If JSIII hadn't have accepted leadership in the New Organization, as it was called, she would've been perfectly content letting her boys pursue secular careers. -

No, she really didn't. She went along with Joseph III when he finally accepted the leadership position offered to him several times. She supported her sons, but really had no role in starting the Reorganization. (I spent over a decade in the Restoration Branches) -

I may have jumped the gun on your meaning- but are you going to deny that average members believe Emma Smith started the Reorganized Church? -
