The Church of England has Just Fallen Into Apostasy!

Can we please, for the love of all that is holy, lay to rest idea that Emma Smith started the RLDS Movement? Zenos Gurley and Jason Briggs were the principle instigators of the New Organization- finally, after several attempts by them to recruit him, and a supposed revelation to him, Joseph III jumped on board. Emma simply followed her sons into the movement. Initially, she really didn't want her sons getting involved because she feared the same fate for them as for her late husband. -
Is the KCMO Mission a split from the Independence Mission? I'm surprised Kansas City didn't already have it's own mission.

Again, I can't stop you from having your own opinion(s). -
The quoted text does not necessitate your interpretation. English is fun.

I would love to see a comparison between then and now, with actual quotes. Oh, well.

Quotes from Church leaders clearly advocating that thinking?

Tim Ballard's New Rants About the Church
ZealouslyStriving replied to Pyreaux's topic in General Discussions
Some years back one of Hugh Nibley's daughters accused him of ritualized abuse having to do with ancient Egyptian or Sumerian rites after "recovering" memories through hypnosis. He is probably the most prominent person of note in the Church to have been accused. -

I guess I'll have to endure watching this. If your summary is accurate (which I don't doubt) I don't know how Troy is being sucked in so far. 🙁 -

Joseph Smith and the Problem of Evil

The question of "Why, why, why?" will, most often, never be answered in this realm- and a single-minded focus on the question often does more to embitter than anything else. Either choose to believe in the goodness of God or not. But trying to intellectually answer the question of "Why?" does little to bring peace, nor does nihilism. But really those are your options: 1) Choose to believe in a merciful, good, loving God who will make sense of all this in His time. 2) Drive yourself crazy trying to figure out "Why does God allow suffering?!" 3) Descend into atheistic nihilism. **I prefer option one.** -
Joseph Smith and the Problem of Evil

My musing/theory/idea somewhat meshes with Ostler's model of progression where he postulates that God and Jesus advanced in such a degree in love that they were able to organize a plan to help others come to the level they achieved. Who is to say that others didn't advance as far as them, but did to a degree more than others to where they didn't need the full experience of mortality? Are we now pooh-poohing thought experiments in this forum? -
Joseph Smith and the Problem of Evil

I don't know- but someday I will. That is what choosing to trust God is all about. I feel that spending inordinate amounts of my time second guessing God and being angry that He permits evil to run it's course is counterproductive. -

I'm guessing because only some are able to progress that far, others need to mortal experience to help them along. Jesus had a unique experience suited only for him. OK. -

Some have progressed so far in their pre-mortal state that gaining a body is really the only thing they needed to do. -

All this discussion basically comes down to: Do you trust God or not? That is a choice we all have to individually make. I trust that God is a loving, merciful being who knows what He is doing and that this will all be reconciled and make sense in the end. From Pres. Spencer W. Kimball: Chapter 2: Tragedy or Destiny? https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/teachings-spencer-w-kimball/chapter-2?lang=eng -
You do understand why this is confusing and contradictory to us in light of Creedal Christian teaching concerning the Fall, correct?

Do I believe that Jesus became a God? No (at least not in the way you will strawman it).

Sooo... You basically just called him a liar and highly recommended that he spends countless hours chasing down resources to write an "original" post from scratch instead of using AI as a research assistant. -

I believe you are missing the point of my question to our Protestant friend. Also, we (Latter-day Saints) don't believe God created Lucifer. -

Fair enough... Because it would be completely unexpected and catch people by surprise. That's about it. -

Not a parallel, a continuation of that war. -
Just curious... Were Adam and Eve married joined together marriage by God, before the Fall, in that original purpose found in the verses highlighted? If so, why do you reject the concept of eternal marriage, if that was a component of the original purpose and the state to which the righteous are destined to return?
