And the likely George McFly misapplication of counsel to avoid contention by many members will not help the situation. -

Don't talk about me like I'm not here. Your's and Calm's words strike be like patronizingly patting a kid on the head after he has a crying fit. While I don't advocate for violence obviously (read the verses I quoted) there are many out there without the same ethics and teachings as I have in the Restored Gospel (and general Christian Gospel) who will see this as a call to arms. Who have been further entrenched in the "come get my guns from my cold dead hands" mindset. Who feel more under attack than ever before- because if Charlie was killed for words, for inviting discussion, who's next? I know you don't want to believe it but this really is different. (I believe the prophecies in the Doctrine and Covenants will be fulfilled, including the above mentioned. I was only saying that this has done much to push us in that direction.) -
Travis Anderson from the "Missionary Discussions" YouTube channel has discussed this. You should take the time to find it and check it out (that is if you are truly sincere in coming to a correct understanding).

I don't think you realize how big of a deal this is for some people. Perhaps you should spend some time on YouTube checking out conservative reaction videos. This is MLK big for some people. Just because his assassination wasn't a big deal in your circles or you think because you didn't agree with him that it is like any other death, doesn't make it so. I guarantee this will have a far more vast ripple than you currently realize. -

We just took a giant leap forward towards this: Doctrine and Covenants 45:68-69 "And it shall come to pass among the wicked, that every man that will not take his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for safety. And there shall be gathered unto it out of every nation under heaven; and it shall be the only people that shall not be at war one with another." When law and order breaks down in the land of liberty, the dominoes will quickly fall in other nations. -

Yeah, it's confusing. I think he confessed to his Dad and they went to his friend, the marshall, who is a Bishop. -

20th century (pardon me) Though people try to dress it up in flowery language about "workers rights", the ultimate goal of Communism is to destroy faith in God and replace it with government 100 Years of Communism: Death and Deprivation | Cato Institute https://share.google/cyVRsXyMVhrgIsfEO -

The responses here have shown just how entrenched this (spiritual) heart disease has become. The response just following your post here puts total blame on religious belief, leaving out the fact the Communism (anti-religion) killed more people in the 21st century than all holy wars combined throughout history. I mourn for our world. 😢 I just want a cabin in the woods where I can be alone and die in peace. I'm so done. -

How about this? We have a culture that glorifies killing. *Abortion on demand *Revenge movies *GTA type video games *Rap music Hearts are cold, self-centered, without God, and addicted to violence in our media. The solution is repentance. -

Examples? (Complete quotes with context) Have you ever actually watched one of his college debates? Or is cherry picked quotes how you gathered your information on him? -

I've already politely asked that anyone like you unfriend me- so if they haven't and they do block me, it would be a blessing. Any further response to you on any subject will not be forthcoming- you are more vile than I gave you credit for. -

The shooter was 2 football fields away, Charlie was sitting under a tent, but he managed to hit him in the neck. This wasn't a random act of violence by a crazy person. -

This was political terrorism. Silence is what they want. I refuse to comply. And if I share without contention- why should you question it. -

I've have, 99% of the time, been politically silent on social media, trying not to upset friends or relatives with different opinions. After today, that all changes. I will do my best to not be contentious- but I will not be silent. 😡 QEPD Charlie. 😢 -

There is no reason the discussion leader (teacher) couldn't find quotes by former Relief Society leaders that would fit the topic alluded to in the (now) talk being discussed in the class- the Gospel Library App is amazing. -
Interesting how one camp condemns us with the false accusation that we think all non-Mormons are going to hell, but the other camp thinks our God is too accommodating. 🤨

"24 And there stood one among them that was like unto God, and he said unto those who were with him: We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell; 25 And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them; 26 And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever." (Abraham 3) **The bolded part intrigues me as it seems to suggest that this Earth is the location of not just this mortal, second estate- but also where our first estate took place. We know that the post-mortal "Spirit World" is here in Earth, is it possible that the pre-mortal "Spirit World" is also here on Earth, and we are just moving between three dimensions? Thoughts? Have any of our deep thinkers opined on this?

"For he was baptized while he was yet in his childhood, and was ordained by the angel of God at the time he was eight days old unto this power, to overthrow the kingdom of the Jews, and to make straight the way of the Lord before the face of his people, to prepare them for the coming of the Lord, in whose hand is given all power." As we studied Doctrine and Covenants 84 today, verse 28 struck me in a different way because of recent videos I've been watching featuring David Butler, Jonah Barnes and others that speak of Temple Priests being the 'angels' referred to in some Biblical texts. So, I propose that the "angel" that ordained John the Baptist to his mission at 8 days old was none other than his own father Zechariah. Luke 1:59, 76-79: "And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father... And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." Thoughts?

In the wake of the Ryder Lyons decision to play for BYU, I've noticed reports varying from him serving an 18 month mission to a 1 year mission. In comments trying to correct it to a 2 year mission, several responders have stated athletes are being given the option of shortened missions. I also saw something about BYU considering subsidizing missions for athletes. For those in the know... Is any of this true? If so, I lodge an informal complaint here at MDDB where it counts for absolutely nothing. 😉

This is a song/anthem I wrote on June 27th, 2023 as I sat pondering the martyrdom and reading D&C 135: "The Testimony is Sealed" (triumphantly) Like a lamb to the slaughter Went the prophet of the Lord And left a name and fame That can ne'er be slain! Chorus: It is sealed! It is sealed ! The testimony is sealed! By the best blood of that generation the testimony is sealed! Ever faithful his dear brother Went with him to certain death And on that fateful June day Breathed his final breath! (Chorus) In life they weren't divided And in death not seperated The two brothers e'er united Shed their martyr's blood! (Chorus)
