Hello, my name is Austin and I am an anthropology student researching Mormon culture as a whole put particularly practices surrounding missions and the experience of missionaries. If you are willing to participate in a phone interview please send me a message. Thank you!

Any chance that there's some kind of online way to communicate?  Because I served a mission and I'm happy to share my experiences but there's no way I'm doing a phone interview, sorry.

Of course, please let me know what works for you.

If you haven't already, you should check out Richard Dutcher's independent film God's Army. It's a dramatization, obviously, but it's one of the better (if not the best) films out there about LDS missionaries.

I thought it was a little unrealistic in parts for my taste, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I don't think you can PM until you've hit 25 posts.

Austin_3005, there is a thread here in Social Hall entitled "A Three Word Story."   You can make multiple three-word posts in that thread until you have reached the 25 post threshold.

Personally I'd be more comfortable with the initial layer of anonymity provided by private messages rather than going straight to e-mail contact.

Edit:  Apparently I can send you a private message even though you cannot yet initiate PM contact, so I have done so.
