Too many of the illegal aliens were unable in their countries of origin to organize and to reform their governments. So they flee from their homes due to the oppression that result from unwise implementation of socialism or some form of oligarchy. This is ludicrous. The average joe in the streets is well aware of extensive provisions for "English as a Second Language" in practically all public schools. Which is pseudonym for immigrants NOT having to train for proper use of the English language. Numerous businesses are forced to accommodate for Spanish speakers. You should analyze Western Union telegrams to see the enormous amount of money sent home to families still in countries of origin. Tens of billions of dollars every year. Many of the aliens are "double dipping": 1- they are paid under the table by their illicit employers; 2- less pay but free of taxes for both the alien and the employer; 3- since they are "undocumented", they fraudulently apply for government benefits (including welfare and housing); 4- sometimes file for social security benefits (adding insult to injury). So they are actually doing much better than their "legal" co-workers.

The term is descriptive it means "anti-immigrant", which is accurate and objective. Nativism and populism are ideologies empowering Boris Johnson etc. toward Brexit.
