I suppose you'd had bad experiences. What about us who've run into a few jerks but by and large everyone seems pretty decent, even if some of them were a little iffy?

There's a genre of YouTube videos that basically read out Reddit stories about revenge done to miscreants, including bosses, bullies at work, bad neighbors, and so on, and if one spends a lot of time watching/listening to these one might get the impression that everyone is a jerk -- but one must remember that the mean people stand out while the rest of us very nice folks (like you and me) hardly get any attention.   One must also remember that while there are stories about bridges that collapse, virtually no stories are heard about bridges that stay quietly up -- which are the vast majority.  Listening to news about falling bridges, one might be afraid to cross any of them.

I deleted my social media because of some of the really, really bad people I knew, also revenge is a fools game.  I had to live most of my life around bad people who did just that and wow we're they good at it.  It cost them everything in the end, they deserved it too.  Revenge never stops, that and it can drag in others who will often make it even more messy.  We're partially in the position we're in society wise because of that attitude, people here anymore seem to feel like it's their right to step on whomever they want regardless of the consiquences.  Now that the affects of peoples bad choices is coming back and biting them, it's interesting to see how scared people are getting.  I know lots of young parents are terrified now with how things are, even if your kids school is safe you not only have to spend a rediculous amount of  time and money finding a way to get your kid in, you still have to worry about some idiot snapping.  That and even neighborhoods aren't what they used to be, it's a foolish idea to expect your neighbors to keep an eye on your kids if they're outside, as a rule no one really cares anymore, partially because everyone's afraid of liability/getting sued, that and good old fashioned selfishness and apathy.  Granted, society totally deserves it, this all I think proves my point why the screw you attitude really is foolish.

Today, that sounds a little harsh. It is hard to escape the "circle" that I mentioned. It makes for hell on earth, even if you don't believe in eternal hell. I know because I have been caught up in it, and still get entangled from time to time. We should have mercy with each other because of this, knowing we are all subject to the same frailties. Yesterday, I spent hours on a serious reply from a distinctly Catholic perspective, Poptart, but it became disorganized and I did not think it would make good enough sense to you or others. I do not think I have time to recompose it in a satisfactory manner. That is what I meant by "I'm not the guy for your questions." Be assured of my continuing concern for your well-being and happiness.

God bless you,

Rory

You know of them from being in the Puget Sound area? I have friends who grew up going to cmri. Near Puyallup or somewhere on that side of I-5? I have no experience of them. I think they are sedevacantist going back to Pius XII. I dunno. I THINK they are wrong, but I don't know. I think it is best to wait for Providence to sort out the mess. It is beyond my competence. I think it is prudent to assume and behave for now, as though Francis is pope. I have associated myself with a priestly fraternity that takes that position. One could call it papal agnostism. Maybe a future pope and council will say that CMRI were right.

"Papal agnosticism"!  I love it.  There may be LDS members who are "presidential agnostic", i.e. just can't wait for Elder Uchtdorf to become President because President Nelson makes them nervous.
