Emma Smith movie

This was news to me.  Is anyone here planning to attend this movie?  Do you know anything more about this?  I wonder how they will portray Emma.  Will this narrative dig into the polygamy topic, or the succession crisis?  If anyone has some more detail about this movie, I would love to hear.  Thanks

Well the distributor, Candlelight, also distributed "Emma Smith My Story" back in 2008.

It mentioned both polygamy and Brigham in passing (not in depth) and was a  pretty decent movie.  I suspect this to be more of the same.

Oh, Candlelight.  Makes sense why I'm only finding this story in the Deseret News.  Is Candlelight owned by the church?

I do hope the actress who plays Emma has more personality than the one in the earlier version. IMO, that actress was way too gentle. I always think of Emma as being very animated and witty with snapping dark eyes and a lot of charisma.

This looks like a sequel to that movie.  That movie ended around the time of Joseph's death, if I recall, and this movie focuses on the period after his death.

I saw this yesterday.  It feels a bit like a docudrama with Grandmother Lucy telling much of the story to her grandson.  I found it interesting, but wouldn't consider this great entertainment. Definitely for those particularly interested in the Emma Hale Smith story.

Thanks for reporting back.  How was the movie from a historical accuracy perspective?  Did they get into polygamy much or the succession crisis or the formation of the reorganized church?  

Also, who's the grandson that Lucy Mack is supposed to be telling the story too, is it Joseph III the future president of the reorganized church?

There was nothing on polygamy.  Just a tiny bit on the succession issues, nothing on the formation of the reorganized church.  I believe it was Joseph III, but I could be mistaken, already forgetting things.
