Actually in the example Jesus gave -- an example intended to teach by analogy that God answers prayers -- the hypothetical father gives the necessities of life -- food -- to his children when they ask for it. In your case, instead of believing what the Lord Jesus said, you choose to defend Pres. Ivins' indefensible failure to act. This is the true reason why you think this is arrogant and baseless. Kevin can tell you exactly why you reason this way, and if you fall under Position 2 of the 9 Position Perry Scheme of Cognitive and Ethical Growth. Rico, evidently, is entitled to tell me what I believe. He is, apparently, entitled to offer psychobabble-disguised personal insults based entirely upon the fact that I disagree with him. And that's not at all "inflammatory." But it is, apparently, "inflammatory" to take issue with him. Rico misused a passage from Matthew chapter 18, clipping off the verse that shows the scope of the teaching to be limited to personal disputes between Church members.
