Some LDS teachings of Jesus Christ are not found in scripture. The LDS version of Christ is a procreated being who progressed into becoming a God, just like the LDS version of Heavenly Father before him. We can agree to disagree. The Holy Spirit testifies to me what the scriptures say. That God is from everlasting to everlasting. There is no God before him and no God after him (Isaiah chapters 43 and 44). Regards, Jim

Christ didn't stop being the eternal God after his birth on earth, even though he grew in wisdom and learned how to become perfect through the things which he suffered. Similarly, Christ's learning experiences in the pre-earth life do not negate the fact that he was the eternal God before his birth as a organized spirit. We are not as far apart as you think we are. Do you believe in your church's teachings that Jesus became a God? Jim

Regards, Jim I often hear people say things like this, but seldom find them able to support their view with Scripture, tradition, or logic. What we more often find are a congeries of views running the spectrum of possible, imaginative approaches to religious belief -- whatever the free individual finds holds the most meaning for him personally. This is the source also of rampant denominationalism, which is increasing rather than decreasing -- a kind of uncontrolled religious anarchy. If you are happy with that, fine. Please be aware, however, that assertion is not the same thing as fact. Serious biblical scholarship does not support your assertions here. 1

Gail Hi, Gail. I was responding to Jim's claims, and I commented to him that " Serious biblical scholarship does not support your assertions here" You might want to open a new thread to cover what you are asking here, which is a very different matter. If, however, you agree with Jim, please provide examples of serious biblical scholarship which support his claims. I know of none.
