What kind of liars are in the Telestial Kingdom?

In D&C it says that those in the lowest kingdom will be murderers, adulterers, whoremongers , and liars, whoever loves and makes a lie. What is meant by liars? I know so many people who lie all the time. Should they be linked in the same category as murderers and adulterers? Or is it misinterpreted wrong and liars means something bigger? Because if it's just lying then I know a lot of people,  myself included, who are in serious trouble.

Lying is one thing. Loving to lie is another. Place this in the league with bad used car salesman, crooked politicians, and other con artists of the like.

We all lie now and then on something but that does not make us generally dishonest people.   I think this passage is speaking about those who lie their way through life on everything that you just can't trust what they say regardless of the issue.  I don't think the passage is equating liars with murderers.  It is simply saying that certain groups of people will make it into the lowest kingdom and habitual liars or those who perhaps lie on very important things qualify for this kingdom.  Even in the Telestial Kingdom there are different degrees and perhaps liars are a step above the murderers in that kingdom.

Good to know. Now, to work on my whoremongering. I don't mean I'm trying to increase it.

The liars mentioned are like those husbands who tell their wives they're going out to look for a hard-to-find auto part when they're actually planning on going fishing with 'the guys,' or those children who say they're going over to Billy's house whe they intend to go to Johnny's, or those wives who say they're going to 'run some errands' when they're really planning on going out to buy a 30th pair of shoes.

I was hoping it was something exaggerated like loud laughter since I laugh loudly a lot when watching the simpsons.

Loud laughter has been defined as flippancy towards Godly things.

This is an important point.

I think it likely a mistake to try to make the qualifications for the telestial kingdom more difficult than simply set forth there.

In other words, when it says "liars" are found there, it is problematic to try to make this an especially bad type of lie.

When we do so, it is often by way of trying to disqualify ourselves for what the scriptures say we are qualified for.

We need to live up to our privileges. ;)

Also, instead of helping us understand the scriptures, it frequently ends up reading what we want to be true into the scriptures instead.

A person who is liar is a person who should not be trusted, and I say should not because people can choose to trust a liar if they want to. But you should not trust a liar because what a liar will tell you is simply not true and should not be relied upon as if it were true.

So notice here that the liar is the person who will suffer for being dishonest, instead of the people who were naive or gullible enough to trust the liars.

The next level up, the Terrestrial, is apparently the place for the naive and gullible, unless they committed and didn't repent from more serious sins.

And the highest level or order, the Celestial, is the right place for those who relied on the Holy Spirit as their guide to know the truth.

I like what you are doing with Section 76, here, Ahab.

I was just saying that it seems clear that all sinners, from murderers down to liars, find their place in the Telestial Glory.

In other words, it is not the people who didn't sin such awful sins who go to the Terrestrial, and the really bad sinners who wind up Telestial.

That alone is an important observation to keep in mind.

The same worry comes whenever reading about liars, murderers, adulterers, and whoremongers because I'm like I do at least one of those things.

Oh I did stop it. But the sins in the past were still done.

Then you are not a liar, but instead someone who lied.

Unless you are lying right now, and if so,  stop it.

But the point is that only liars and murderers and adulterers, etc... rather than those who in the past lied or murdered or committed adultery or whatever and then later repented ...are the ones the scriptures are talking about.

...the "er" on the end of the word indicating they were still doing it and it is still what they are.
