VideoGameJunkie Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The scriptures state that the reward for the good is to worship in front of the Lords throne singing praises to Him forever and ever. The thing is that sounds like it would get boring after about an hour. Is that the eternity some look forward to? I'm just glad mormons believe in exaltation where we can become gods and have spiritual children, because only worshipping in front of a throne forever saying the same chants over and over again honestly sounds boring to me, yet many scriptures talking about heaven state this.
Calm Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 You can play computer games for hours at a time, right? Think of the best computer game ever possibly invented...virtual reality of course, that was constantly updating and getting better and better as your experience with it grew so it was never too easy to be boring but not too hard to be frustrating and then not ever having to take bathroom breaks or worry about food or anything else intruding to break that concentration. That might just begin to hint at how others view worshipping the Lord in that way. 2

But the music is really great! The musicians there are really happy because they get to play a spiritual version of progressive rock on amazing guitars, keyboards and drums that blast out of really, really big amplifiers.
VideoGameJunkie Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 If the music is great then that'll help, but doing the same repetition for awhile seems ok, but forever and ever? I would want variety of things to do, places to see, worlds to look after.
VideoGameJunkie Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Maybe the Book of Revelation is wrong, and maybe I'm selfish, but I want more out of eternity.

When you are not creating spirit children, and not creating worlds without end.

Well I can't create spirit children or worlds without end or create jazz music of my own if I'm stuck in front of the throne chanting the same phrases over and over again for eternity.
Anakin7 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 It will be like The Ewoks in Starwars when they were bowing and chanting to C3PO but on a much higher reality scale. In His Eternal Debt/Grace Anakin7

And how do we worship now? I think you need to expand your definition of worship. Start by including service, add in progression, plus some stewardship growth, and you might start to understand worship. Christ worshipped the Father by doing everything the Father commanded, not by prostrating himself and singing. One Christian site wrote: The most commonly cited definition of the word “worship” is based on the etymology of the English word: “Worship” is derived from the Old English word “woerthship.” So, when we worship God, we are proclaiming (or giving him back) his worth. How do we give back to God his worth? Not just in word. Edited January 5, 2016 by JLHPROF 2

VideoGameJunkie Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Is that part of the Book of Revelation just metaphorical when it talks about being in front of the throne because mormonism teaches we get our own thrones and godhood.

Yes and no. We will always "worship" our Father. We will always worship our Savior. They keep their thrones. We receive ours. They move to a higher exaltation. Christ becomes King of Kings. It is metaphorical when speaking of presiding. It is literal in that there are actual "thrones" to be sat upon according to some visions of heaven.

That was the point. Or did you take such language literally and assume that God does nothing but bask in glory all daylong? He has places to go, things to see, creations to supervise. If you are part of the heavenly host, you get to go along and revel in the action. Or you can stare at the Gohonzon and chant Namyohorengekyo, Namyohorengekyo, Namyohorengekyo, Namyohorengekyo, Namyohorengekyo, forever . . .
