Thinking Of You

Hi friends,

 

I don't want to open discussion about the recent policy changes to the Handbook that have created a lot of controversy recently.  And I know this is not the forum for such discussion, and many of you probably feel that it's been discussed more than enough!

 

However, I've been thinking about you with empathy, and praying for you.

 

Having been in church leadership for many years (even though I'm a woman, and not LDS), I've been in a position of balancing compassion and the need for church discipline ... and of trying to understand what I really believe and where my responsibilities lie ... and of seeking God's wisdom and guidance and compassion.

 

Please understand that I'm not trying to say anything here, except that I feel for you, and I believe that God honours prayer for each other, even though our specific Christian faith systems are different in many respects.  What we share, I believe, is a longing for God and for His will to be done.

 

I've been thinking about writing this post since Sunday, when some of you that I've respected and felt close to, kept coming to my mind and heart as I was sitting in my own church service.

 

So today I decided to act on that impulse, and hope that this simple message of empathy and prayer (without saying that I have answers, but that I know something about the struggle) may resonate with some of you.

I'm always amazed at how I can feel close to people I don't know on the internet, but then I'm not so surprised because I think there really is a bond in Christ.
