Coreyb Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Just a quick question for someone who know more than I: what Mormon books/literature have been translated into other languages besides English, not counting the scriptures, magazines and official stuff like handbooks, manuals, PMG; and more importantly, what Mormon literature has originated in other languages? I met a guy a while back who said he was involved with some folks translating classic Mormon books into Spanish and Portuguese. I don't know how all that would work with copyrights and all, but it seems like a worthwhile project. I have poked around on Deseret Book's website and it looks pretty limited. Does anybody have a list?

I have poked around on Deseret Book's website and it looks pretty limited. Does anybody have a list? Deseret Book probably would not be any help, as they are only distributing English editions. Any LDS book to be published in another language would most likely have a publisher in the target country. Whoever that publisher would be is your place to start. As LDS book publishing is at best a niche market in the United States, I can't imagine many publishers outside of the US lining up to foot the expense of translating and then publishing a book that, at best, would only sell a couple hundred copies.
Calm Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Duane Crowther...Horizon Publishers....self published a bunch of books and iirc translated a number to Spanish. Life Everlasting is the only title I remember, but I remember having a number of his books on the shelves at the church bookstore I worked at. Other than his, I only remember the Spanish Bible and Book of Mormon. That was about a dozen years ago and I believe he sold his company to Cedarfort since then, don't know if they've continue the Spanish stuff.FairMormon is connected to several websites where we (well, not me cause I can barely read Spanish, but others) are attempting to translate, iirc Spanish, Portuguese, German....maybe French. Probably one or two more.Anyone wants to volunteer to help, please do because we could really use the help. Don't have to sign up for anything else. Edited February 3, 2015 by calmoriah
