Robert F. Smith Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 ......................................................................... 5. The last 3 paragraphs are about the LDS Church as Zion and her role in preparing the honest in heart throughout the world to meet the Bridegroom (which priesthood dedications and consecrations of lands are aimed at), with a particular blessing upon the Presidency of the Church and the quorum of the Twelve. The realization of the main point of entire prayer hinges upon the preservation of the Restored Church. When I look at the prayer as a whole, it seems to ask the Lord's blessing upon the remnant /scattered Jews so they can gather and build a temple in concert with the latter-day Restored Church. The further on track we are for the coming of the Lord, the more integrated the chosen people will be able to fulfill those blessings as members of the Church (much like the Book of Mormon prayers and prophecies in behalf of the remnant of the seed of Joseph in building the New Jerusalem, according to the covenant Jehovah made with Jacob). The center stake of Zion (LDS) covers Independence, Missouri, and nearby areas. It is there that the New Jerusalem will be built, and the Great Temple erected.. Of course the Restored Church survives. Why would any of us think otherwise? Without a parallactic view you are like the guy who can't imagine why Jesus might come to his other sheep in the New World, which we read about in III Nephi. For you it appears to be either-or, while for some others it is both-and. 1
Robert F. Smith Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I just read Orson Hyde's full dedicatory prayer, and all it says is that the Jews will build the Jerusalem temple. But without clarification, one way or the other, he doesn't stipulate whether or not these temple building Jews will simply be modern members of the Jewish faith or if they will be Jews who have converted to the LDS Church. This is very important because LDS Church leaders, including the Prophet Joseph Smith himself, have indicated that the Jews who will build the Jerusalem temple will be Jews by lineage, but in addition to that they will also be members of the LDS Church. Of course you are entitled to your supercessionist opinion. The Jews will eventually become official Saints of the Last Days and part of the Kingdom of God Earth. The way in which that happens, and the sequence of events is a matter of interpretation, and it is not as cut and dried as you assert. We may both be very surprised. As it stands now, however, the Jews are intent on building their own temple and having animal and other sacrifices there -- as anciently. They are unlikely to listen to some goyim on that matter. 1
Canadaigua Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Even here you admit that it is a false narrative. I'm wondering if you are being intentionally obtuse or if you are just not listening? There is no mention of blood animal sacrifice that I can see in the above quote. You seem to have either missed or ignored the previously made point that present-day Mormonism is awash in sacred sacrificial rites. For example, the ordinances of baptism, and the administration of the sacrament of the Lord's supper, are both sacred sacrificial rites that are pregnant with the symbolism of the atoning sacrifice of Christ; but while these priesthood ordinances reenact elements of the sacrificial death of Christ, there is no actual shedding of real blood. The sacred element of Christ's blood is symbolically present in these rites, but there is no actual blood present. The above explanation of bloodless symbolic sacrifices also holds true for the sacred rites practiced in the LDS temples, but because of their highly sacred nature I cannot describe nor discuss them here; but I can assure you sacrificial rites, with a singular focus on the sacrifice of the Savior, are administered there as well. So to a knowledgable member of the LDS church, when B F Johnson speaks of LDS Melchizedek High Priests administering daily sacrificial rites. there is zero reason to believe the rites spoken of are to be blood animal sacrifices. How can I be so confident that I''m correct on this point? The reason is that both within and without our temples we are taught, in no uncertain terms, the sacrificial death of Christ brought with it a full end of sacrifice by the shedding of blood, But understand that sacrifices are still offered up in our temples, but in these sacrificial rites there is no actuall shedding of blood. intra Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 You're only s'pose to eat the sacrifice if you're a priest! interestingly, that's not at all true, and the truth of it glorifies the salvation of God: There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing. But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.(Leviticus 22:10-11) the slave of a priest can eat of the sacrifices. now - our high priest is Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:14, etc.) and we are purchased by His blood, belonging to Him, to become servants of Him:For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.(1 Corinthians 6:20) And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.(Colossians 3:23-24) so the redeemed of God do not break the law of Moses by eating of the sacrifice. Christ is not only my Priest, my Atonement and my Lord, but also my Sustenance! who is like Him? i lack nothing in Christ!

Canadaigua Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 It is from an unofficial source, so it is an expression of opinion until or unless it is canonized.
