Ministering is about serving, as in doing things for other people, and angels are messengers who someone sends to give messages to other people. So put that together and ministering angels are messengers who someone sends to give messages and do things for other people.

And people with keys to send them can send them.

so why would you need the authority of the aaronic priesthood to do this or have this key?

The Aaronic Priesthood holds the authority to cleanse us from sin through baptism and the sacrament. When we are clean we have the ability to hear the spirit and to exercise spiritual power. Those who are in communication with spirit speak as the Lord would speak and do as he would do. Their words are carried out as if the Lord had spoken them, for they are the same. It is through the spirit that angels minister unto men.

In LDS terminology minister can mean to teach (as opposed to administer, which is to perform an ordinance).

I think the case may be made that this refers to the authority to perform the 1st half of the temple endowment... the angels being the company of saints... just a thought...

Of special interest is that baptism and the sacrament are ordinances that give to others the ability to "have the spirit". Thus, through the operation of the Aaronic priesthood, the ministering angels are given access to minister to worthy members through obedience to those ordinances. "Keys" are directive powers/ access powers.
