Servant Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 But you have no powers.....you are not God. God is ALL power. Assuming I have power. Irregardless of it's size, I remain the same size. you would have NO idea....since you never was God
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 you would have NO idea....since you never was God Oh, I forgot, you know firsthand how an increase in power causes an increase in size.
johnny Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Alexander writes,First part of the verse. If it is knowledge that fills heaven and earth then we would all have the knowledge of God ... I don't think so ... So it's a metaphor? It means that God does not have feet. The fact remains, God, as a being, is of finite size. How can a finite size fill heaven and earth?it still doesn't change the fact that God's physical self is finite. The fact is that God is spirit ... The Holy Spirit is spirit.God is nowhere else, being described as absent from a region of space, therefore finite in size.It is a man saying these words ... God is not saying these words. The point of this verse is there are two forces in play. Either God is in the picture, or he isn't.Do you think God's wisdom is earthly, sensual, devilish?"Not far", implies distance. The Holy Spirit is "not far". The LDS church teaches that the Holy Spirit "can be everywhere at the same time"And you still haven
Servant Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 you would have NO idea....since you never was God Oh, I forgot, you know firsthand how an increase in power causes an increase in size. huh?
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 you would have NO idea....since you never was God Oh, I forgot, you know firsthand how an increase in power causes an increase in size. huh? Well, you see, you said I did not have firsthand knowledge of my postulate, I was saying that you don't either.
johnny Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Alexander writes,The bold text says all that is needed. Would you agree that the Holy Spirit is God's Spirit.
johnny Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Alexander writes,Would you agree that an omnipresent being cannot move or be absent from a location? I would not agree because onimipresent refers to "presence". Do you consider the Holy Ghost omnipresent since "his influence can be everywhere at the same time"? Below are LDS teachings on the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead (see 1 John 5:7; D&C 20:28). He is a spirit that has the form and likeness of a man (see D&C 130:22). He can be in only one place at a time, but his influence can be everywhere at the same time.

Well, you see, you said I did not have firsthand knowledge of my postulate, I was saying that you don't either. well it is because you said this: "Assuming I have power. Irregardless of it's size, I remain the same size." but to answer that....if you made yourself in the flesh Jesus....you could be the size of you are now but with the POWER which IS ominpresent you can be everywhere. so what you said doesnt hold up.Also explain what you said earlier....you said that power has nothing to do with being everywhere.....this does NOT make any sense at all...
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I would not agree because onimipresent refers to "presence". Which is exactly what I'm talking about, presence.God is not omnipresent. His presence occupies a finite portion of space. You're equating omnipresence with omnipotence or whatever.
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 well it is because you said this: "Assuming I have power. My point is, if you were measuring someone's size you would not measure power. A doctor takes your measurements, does he write down "waist", "height", "power"?A good example of this is Jesus Christ. He obviously had power and authority over things, but he didn't swell to an infinite (or finite but large) size.

Or how long is it?....However if there was a wiegh God's power it would be infinty...it would go on forever. God is POWER...and He can do AN YTHING and EVERYTHING....If God CANT be everywhere at the same time....then God CANT doe EVERYTHING.Then God does NOT have ALL power....I really dont know how "being everwhere at once doesnt have nothing to do with power" fits in what you just said....because being everywhere at once has EVERYTHING to do with power...let me ask you this since you said being everywhere at one time....has nothing to do with power....that means you can be everywhere at one time...
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 If God CANT be everywhere at the same time....then God CANT doe EVERYTHING.Then God does NOT have ALL power.... Than that's you limiting God. I'm sorry about this but I have no control over what you believe.
johnny Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Alexander writes,God is not omnipresent. His presence occupies a finite portion of space. God is omnipresent. Jeremiah 24:23,24 says he fills heaven and earth and he is at hand.Jeremiah 2323 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

I'm sorry about this but I have no control over what you believe. Are you saying that isnt limited? how do you difine limited? It means that you can do some things or alot of things or almost everything but you can not do ALL things...yeah the way you are making God sound...is He is limited. He is NOT limited means He can do ALL because He has all the power. He is able and capable of doing EVERYTHING all at once. He can be EVERYWHERE at ONE time...at once...God has NO limits....with God EVERYTHING is possible...
Servant Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 alexander....Johnny has given you scripture that says God can be everywhere at once....you or someone gave scripture saying that God can be one place with out being in another (or something like that)....this doesnt say anything different from what Johnny said. It actually harmonize...because God CAN be here at my house and not be at your house...but at the same time..if He chooses....He can be at my house and at your house at the same time.So can you point me in the scriptures something different?
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 alexander...please give me scripture that says God can NOT do all things. I said no such thing. In fact, tell me where in teh Bible it says this:"If God CANT be everywhere at the same time....then God CANT doe EVERYTHING.Then God does NOT have ALL power.... ?(which, in case you haven't noticed, is what you said and is also a limitation you are imposing on God.)

If He has ALL power then He can be everywhere at once...and you also were trying to make it sound as if God's power can be wieghed when it cant...YOu also said God is not omnipresent...that is limited. Maybe I should ask again...since you keep going in cyircles...this is a yes or no question...no explaination....Can God be everywhere at once?

You guys keep proving my point. Think carefully, omnipresence, by definition, means to occupy (physically) all available space. Now, if something is moving that means that the being under question must have space to move into. Also, if the being under question does not occupy a section of available space that means there is unoccupied space. In both of these conditions the being under question is not occupying all available space and therefore is not omnipresent (present in all areas of space).I really don't know how this can be any clearer.
Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 that is because what you were saying...either God has ALL power or He doesnt. Show me.Can God be everywhere at once? No.

Alexander Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 God has the power to be here and not there.... Well than it's his decision not to be in a particular location and not in others, he has the choice therefore he is not omnipresent. How about if we call him: "periodically omnipresent"heh.
