There is another hole like this in Kazakstan caused by Russian Gas Drilling. Someone set fire to it. The locals call it the doorway to hell.

What has UFO's got to do with it. I didn't see them mentioned anywhere in the article. And it is reasonable to believe gw caused that nicely rounded hole to melt out and leave the rest frozen solid? Is there something about the word "probably" you don't understand?

Is there something about the word "probably" you don't understand? I was referring to a sentence in the report and was commenting that gw alarmest try to attach gw to everything that happens, from 100 degree heat to toe nail fungus. Probably is just a way to slip it in and have an escape hatch when someone calls them on it.

I think that "lost", in this case, refers to having lost their identity rather than being physically lost.

Maybe they are living in a colony on the dark side of the moon and when the scriptures say north they mean Far north;)

I just though it was interesting considering the theories of the lost 10 tribes in the North. GW came up in discussions outside this forum, in connection with that marvelous hole. The thing is, if the permafrost is warming up, then the methane being held prisoner by ice (in the form of clathrates) may in fact be released, and if the upseep is retarded by ground structures, then pressure will build up. The pressure would then find the weaker layers and perhaps break out in a local area. Like this hole. Maybe. I find this hole very interesting. It almost looks like an impact feature, except for the nearly vertical shaft! It is certainly an eruptive feature, therefore. Could be methane, since there are methane deposits in that area.
