theanthrofox Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 And if we curl up in a quivering ball in a corner we will never know anything and will become a quivering, whimpering, frightened ball. Why would anyone want to curl up in a quivering ball? seems a bit silly to do that. And wow, I didn't know that. I'm just wondering, if you are a believing person and you are a Muslim would you be equal in the eyes of God compared with a LDS? I'm just wondering because from what i've been taught by some of your missionaries is that to return to God, you must be baptised...? So my initial uneducated answer is that in the eyes of God, he would only allow the mormon to come back to him in the after life, whereas the Muslim wouldn't? is that correct according to LDS doctrine?
Calm Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 May I suggest reading this rather than making assumptions: http://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles?lang=eng For this topic: http://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-41-the-postmortal-spirit-world?lang=eng http://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-40-temple-work-and-family-history?lang=eng http://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-46-the-final-judgment?lang=eng http://www.lds.org/manual/gospel-principles/chapter-47-exaltation?lang=eng 3

theanthrofox Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 okay i read those chapters you suggested to me. a knew a lot of it, but i definately learned some new stuff! i have a couple of questions but first....can you tell me how i was making assumptions?=)
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 nice i like all these answers, i like it when things seem spoonful more ....universal. what about rastafarians. once upon a time a rastafarian man was growing something he liked to smoke because he would pray after smoking. and he would be thankful and he would ask heavenly father to bless his next crop. would God answer his prayer? That was nothing more than someone attempting to use religion to justify drug use.

Again, I hope I am wrong. We don't do it to others and do not understand why we are subjected too it so often.
theanthrofox Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Lots of cultures have used drug use as a means to gain spiritual awareness. I'm just asking questions...
thesometimesaint Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Lots of cultures have used drug use as a means to gain spiritual awareness. I'm just asking questions... Sure, but the LDS aren't one of them. We have a relatively strict Word of Wisdom that precludes drug use, including alcohol, outside of under a doctors direction. No problem with asking questions, but if may help if you learn more of what the LDS actually believe before comparing us to other religions. 3
strappinglad Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 To address the OP. The true Mormon meditates in this manner. First he lays down a ceremonials rug made from the mane and tail hair of pre-Columbian horses. He then kneels on the rug and faces the Hill Cumorah ( as he accepts it to be situated). He next recites from memory the King Follet Discourse three times. Then, for least 30 minutes, he exposes his navel and gazes at it while contemplating the mysteries of the Urim and Thummim . 1
